While it's the final regular-season meeting between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, they might meet in the playoffs as the top two wild-card teams. I break down the matchup with my Yankees vs. Red Sox prediction.

The Red Sox are the -160 moneyline betting favorite.

Ace Garrett Crochet has been an innings-eater of late, but my Yankees vs. Red Sox best bets for Sunday Night Baseball expect him to turn in his shortest outing while staying fresh for the quickly approaching playoffs.

📊 Who will win today's Sunday Night Baseball matchup?

As of Sunday morning, the Red Sox are favored to beat the Yankees in today's MLB matchup at 7 p.m. ET from Fenway Park in Boston. I’m predicting the Red Sox will beat the Yankees as -160 moneyline favorites and avoid their first home sweep of three or more games this season.

🎯 Best Yankees vs. Red Sox player props for Sunday Night Baseball

Crochet has recorded 18 or more outs in nine of his last 10 outings, which includes a dominant seven-inning road start against the Yankees where he limited them to one run over seven innings while striking out 11.

However, I am expecting a shorter outing than usual for Crochet as my best Yankees vs. Red Sox player prop for Sunday Night Baseball. Manager Alex Cora will not want to overexpose his ace to the Yankees with a potential playoff matchup looming.

Crochet has managed to pitch six-plus innings even when he hasn’t had his best stuff, like when he allowed season-highs in runs (seven) and home runs (four) two starts ago.

But he has also been removed after 86 or fewer pitches in two of his last six starts, and a similar pitch count likely will not result in six innings pitched against a patient Yankees lineup.

Crochet is one of the few pitchers in the league who gets much stronger as the game goes on. He has allowed a .179 OBA the third time through the batting order. But this wager is banking on Cora’s strategic management and for the Yankees to make the southpaw work early.

A $10 winning wager at FanDuel’s +124 odds, with a 44.64% implied probability, would net $12.40 in profits.

Best player prop: Garrett Crochet Under 17.5 outs recorded (+124 via FanDuel)

1️⃣ YRFI bet for Sunday Night Baseball: YRFI (+100 via BetMGM)

The YRFI has cashed in 13 of New York’s last 14 games at Fenway Park, while the Yankees have led after one inning in five of their last six games overall. Given that Aaron Judge holds the MLB record for home runs in the first inning in a single season (19), the YRFI becomes a great value play as part of my Yankees vs. Red Sox best bets for Sunday Night Baseball.
