With the World Baseball Classic beginning today, it's important to remember there are many different ways you can get involved. One of those ways is through prediction markets, as Kalshi offers its own market for the tournament, and we're examining the WBC 2026 odds at prediction markets.
Kalshi lists Team USA with a 52% chance of winning the tournament, meaning you'd profit $10 on a successful $10 investment on the Americans to win the WBC. However, I'm turning my attention toward the defending champions, as Japan is listed at just 22%. That's the equivalent of +460 odds, which I am very interested in.

💰 Best WBC 2026 prediction at Kalshi
Japan (22%)
It's amazing that we're getting the defending champions at such a good price here. They're being listed as essentially equals with the Dominican Republic, but I like Japan's chances much more.
Based on the return on a $10 investment at this price with Kalshi, Japan would be trading at traditional odds of around +460, which carry an implied probability of only 17.86%. In my opinion, Japan has closer to a 25% chance of winning this tournament, which would result in only a $30 profit on a $10 investment.
That means we're getting more than 50% more profit vs. what I deem is a "fair" price by investing in Japan at Kalshi. Meanwhile, Team USA is trading at a price right around where it should be, as is the Dominican Republic.
At the end of January, this number was nearly 30%. The only real thing that's changed since then is we know the best pitcher in baseball, Tarik Skubal, will not pitch for Team USA in the finals if it reaches that stage.

How do the WBC rules compare to MLB?
- Pitchers can't throw more than 65 pitches in a single game in pool play, more than 80 pitches in the quarterfinals, and more than 95 pitches in the championship round. The only exception is if passing that limit comes while completing a batter's plate appearance.
- Pitchers who throw 50 or more pitches in a single contest will be required to have a minimum of four days' rest before he can be used again. If they throw 30 or more pitches, it will require one day of rest, and pitchers who throw on consecutive days will also be required to rest for a day before pitching again.
- Games in pool play and the quarterfinals will end when a team leads by 10 or more runs after the completion of the seventh inning, or 15 or more runs after the fifth inning.
Who advances from pool play?
The two teams with the best record in pool play will advance to the knockout stage, which begins on Friday, March 13.
What if there's a tie in pool-play records?
- If there is a tie, it will be broken by the head-to-head record, followed by lowest runs allowed per number of defensive innings, lowest earned runs allowed/defensive innings, and then highest batting average.
- Additionally, the team that finishes last in each pool will be relegated and need to qualify for the World Baseball Classic again before the next tournament.
