Tigers vs. Twins Predictions, Odds & Best Bets: Minnesota to Earn First Victory in Series

Our Tigers vs. Twins predictions back Minnesota to earn its first victory in this four-game series after dropping the first two.

The Detroit Tigers have gotten right with two wins in the first two games of this four-game series, but we expect the Minnesota Twins to prevent Detroit from clinching the series as part of our Tigers vs. Twins predictions.

If we are backing Minnesota as a slight -104 moneyline underdog at our best sports betting sites, naturally, our Tigers vs. Twins best bets back Minnesota’s best slugger to lead the way offensively.

First pitch from Target Field is set for 7:15 p.m. ET (FOX) tonight.

Detroit earned a much more convincing 7-0 victory yesterday, after opening the series with its first win after trailing by three or more runs since May 28. But our Tigers vs. Twins prediction is fading a Detroit team that has only one winning streak of three-plus games since July 8.

Minnesota righty Zebby Matthews just limited Detroit to one run in five innings for his third win of the season two starts ago.

Matthews was roughed up a bit more in his last outing, surrendering three solo home runs to the New York Yankees. But still, he finished just one out away from a quality start, and he tied a season-high nine strikeouts, which gives me confidence in this Tigers vs. Twins best bet.

The Twins are a respectable 5-3 in Matthews’ last eight starts, and they have held their opponent to three runs or fewer in each of the last three victories with him toeing the rubber.

I am headed to FanDuel for this wager, as all the other best sportsbooks have Minnesota at -105 odds or higher.

Detroit righty Casey Mize has had decent historical success against Minnesota, holding current hitters to a combined .213/.252/.480 slash line.

But Byron Buxton has been the exception to that rule. I'm backing the Over on his total bases as my best Tigers vs. Twins player prop, since I can't bank on production from others around him to feel confident about his runs scored or RBI odds.

Buxton is 7-for-17 in his career against Mize with four extra-base hits (two of which were home runs) and a 1.294 OPS. He has just two extra-base hits in his last nine games, but I expect a matchup with Mize to cure his power drought.
