Although Detroit couldn’t get it done with Tarik Skubal on the mound in Monday’s opener, my Tigers vs. Athletics prediction is banking on a bounce-back performance. Right-hander Charlie Morton has been solid since joining Detroit, holding the opposition to two runs or fewer in three of his four starts as a Tiger. The 41-year-old hurler has a 3.63 ERA with the Tigers, which is much better than his 5.42 clip in 17 starts with the Orioles.

I might not sell anyone on Morton, but I can make a case for Detroit teeing off on the Athletics’ pitching staff tonight. Right-hander Osvaldo Bido (2-4, 5.37 ERA) will get the nod, but he hasn’t pitched more than three innings since July 11.
