There should be lots of fun for all against Barria early in the game, and especially Naylor, who's fresh off a two-hit outing during Canada's triumph over Colombia.

Barria doesn't miss many bats while putting up just a 6.8 K/9 in the majors, leading to a whole lot of balls in play. Combine that with his substandard average fastball velocity, and Naylor's eyes will grow wide in a hurry. He thrives against heat while putting up a .326 batting average and .500 slugging when facing a four-seamer this past season, per Baseball Savant.

It's a pitch Barria threw 30.2% of the time during his last year in the big leagues, with opponents throttling it to the tune of a .711 slugging. Kaboom indeed.

My only hesitancy with banking on lots of scoring tonight is what happens when Barria exits.

The sample size is small, but the rest of Panama's pitching has held its own against tough competition over the team's first two games of the tournament, limiting Puerto Rico and Cuba to a combined seven runs. That kept Panama in each game, and the combined margin of victory in those contests was just three runs.

That's why while I remain confident, I'm making a lower unit investment into the Over on 9.5 runs. The preferred play is Canada covering -4.5, which puts the focus on the ideal matchup against Barria, and it takes Panama's weak offense out of the equation.
