The Atlanta Braves look to pay off their hot stretch of late by remaining unbeaten in their fifth series in a Sunday Night Baseball matchup against the Cleveland Guardians. Both teams’ Opening Day starters oppose one another, with the pitching matchup between Tanner Bibee and Chris Sale. The Braves are a -195 betting favorite, with first pitch from Truist Park in Atlanta scheduled for 7:20 p.m. ET (NBC/Peacock).

My Guardians vs. Braves prediction looks for Atlanta to get back to its winning ways, with Sale getting right after a couple of poor starts. I am also adding my favorite home run prop to my MLB picks, backing a Braves slugger who has hit for tremendous power of late.

🏆 Who will win Guardians vs. Braves?

Atlanta entered Saturday amid a three-game win streak and out-scoring its opponents 26-9 in that span. I expect it to earn another victory over light-hitting Cleveland.

Score prediction: Braves 5, Guardians 1

💰 Guardians vs. Braves prediction & best bet

Guardians team total Under 2.5 (+120)

There isn’t much value with Atlanta’s -195 moneyline odds, but its dominant pitching should lead to a low-scoring game for Cleveland.

The Braves lead MLB with a 2.50 team ERA, and have allowed two or fewer runs in nine of 15 games. They’ve allowed one total run in Sale’s two home starts, despite one of those coming against the Athletics when the southpaw was dealing with an illness.

While Sale is coming off allowing six earned runs, his most in a game since June 2024, a Guardians lineup that ranks 20th in runs and 25th in BABIP shouldn’t pose any issues.

📡 SBR Edge: A history of pitcher's duels

Dating back to 2024, the Guardians and Braves have had a history of low-scoring matchups, with the Under going 6-2-1 in the last nine.

🔥 Best Guardians vs. Braves player prop bet

Drake Baldwin Over 0.5 RBIs (+180)

Drake Baldwin entered Saturday amid a five-game hit streak with at least RBI in each game in that span as well, and had reached base safely in all 14 games.

Baldwin’s 132 OPS+ is the fourth-highest among catchers since start of 2025 (min. 300 plate appearances and 30% of games played at catcher). His 184 wRC+ in March and April is his highest of any month since the start of last season, and he was one of 14 hitters with a 100 wRC+ or higher each month in 2025 (min. 50 PA).

Baldwin was the only Statcast qualifier to rank in the 80th percentile or better in bat speed, hard-hit rate, and whiff percentage last season, and he has already improved upon the bat speed and whiff rates from last year. While he has a higher career batting average against southpaws, he has a higher slugging percentage against righties.

💣 Guardians vs. Braves home run prediction

Matt Olson to hit a home run (+425)

Matt Olson’s sixth-inning home run in Friday’s series opener was his second in two games, and the 292nd of his career. I expect him to inch closer to becoming the 14th active player with 300-plus home runs.

Guardians leadoff man Steven Kwan is the only player on either team with a home run against today’s starting pitcher. While Olson is 0-for-3 against Bibee, the righty is the more home run prone pitcher, surrendering a 2.0 HR/9 rate so far this season. He is on pace to regress in that metric for the fourth straight year.

Olson should take advantage of Bibee’s eye-popping 56.4% hard-hit rate allowed, and these are great odds for him to build off his mammoth 441-foot blast from Friday.

🚀 Guardians vs. Braves same-game parlay

Banking on Cleveland to finish with three or fewer runs is independent of the second and third legs of this same-game parlay. While a lot seemingly has to go right for Atlanta's offense for Baldwin and Olson to drive in a run in the same game, its near nine-run per game average during a three-game winning streak makes me more confident in the Braves again getting production from multiple spots in the lineup.

To add to the chances of this parlay cashing and to take advantage of the best home run odds, I'm making this wager at BetMGM, while getting an extra run to work with on Cleveland's team total.

💡 How I'm betting Guardians vs. Braves: MLB strategy

Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.

Since my best bet is the Guardians team total Under while also expecting big things offensively from Drake Baldwin and Matt Olson, naturally I wouldn't oppose anyone from backing Atlanta's -1.5 runline odds (+115 is the best price). It's moneyline odds are a no-play at anything steeper than -160, and this is a great sell-high spot on a first-place Cleveland team who was two games under .500 against left-handed starting pitchers last season.

📊 Live Guardians vs. Braves odds

Atlanta ranges from a -195 to -200 moneyline favorite. But the public isn't too keen on backing that big price, as Cleveland makes for one of the more popular underdog picks- after attracting 42% of the early wagers.

While several of the best sports betting sites opened with a total of 8.0 runs, bet365 is the only one that remained there, while the rest of the market ticked down to 7.5. The near-even 54/46 betting split in favor of the Under suggests sharp action is backing that side of the total.
