The Dodgers had only lost three consecutive games twice, but never to the same opponent, before being surprisingly swept at home by the Angels in a series they were outscored by eight runs. But I expect that to bring out the best in the Dodgers this series, which is why I am laying the 1.5 runs with my Dodgers vs. Angels prediction.
The Angels have been no slouches of late, especially offensively, averaging 4.8 runs per game over their last 12. A big part of that offensive output has been power surges from Taylor Ward (he recently finished his fifth career multi-home run game) and Jo Adell (four home runs in his last six games). But Dodgers righty Yoshinobu Yamamoto is the perfect foil to that, leading to our Dodgers vs. Angels best bet.
Yamamoto is on pace for a second straight season with a 0.7 HR/9 allowed rate, and the ground ball specialist has increased that rate from 47.5% in his rookie year to 52.4% this year.
This is a confident four-star play, as Yamamoto benefits from an extra day of rest after his start yesterday was pushed back to make room for Tyler Glasnow. Yamamoto last pitched on August 3, and his ERA and K/9 rate on six-plus days of rest in his career are 2.06 and 11.9, respectively, compared to 3.07 and 9.5 when pitching on five days of rest.
The Dodgers’ moneyline odds steamed as high as -189 at Caesars (carrying a 65.40% implied probability), so the sportsbook’s own -105 run line odds that are the most competitive across all markets is the better value.

Ohtani has already clinched his third consecutive season (and fourth in the last five) with 40-plus home runs, and is the first Dodger with back-to-back such seasons since 2001-02. I expect him to add to that home run total and pass Schwarber for the National League lead with another home run today as my best Dodgers vs. Angels player prop.
Entering yesterday’s series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays, Ohtani was batting .452 with five extra-base hits and 10 runs scored during an eight-game hitting streak. He added two more hits and his 41st home run in the loss, and has a great chance of taking Jose Soriano deep tonight. Soriano has pitched to a 5.56 ERA at home, with seven of his eight home runs allowed coming at Angel Stadium.
FanDuel is the only one of our best MLB betting sites offering better than +200 odds for Ohtani to homer. Through the +215 odds, a $10 winning wager would net $21.50 in profits.
📈 Odds movement, notes
Interestingly, while the moneyline odds on the Dodgers has very slightly dropped (to -180 from -185 at BetMGM), the Dodgers have been bet on 90 percent of all tickets. They also have a 77-23 lead in spread tickets of -1.5, as of 6:05 p.m. ET.

❓MLB betting FAQs
How do betting odds work?
Betting odds represent the probability of a specific outcome and determine how much money you can win on a bet. There are three main formats: American odds, Decimal odds, and Fractional odds. In the U.S., American odds are most common.
What is the run line in baseball?
The run line in baseball is a form of point spread betting unique to MLB. It typically sets a standard spread of 1.5 runs, meaning the favored team must win by at least two runs to cover the run line, while the underdog can lose by one run or win outright to cover.
What does moneyline mean in betting?
The moneyline in betting refers to a wager on which team or player will win the game outright, with no point spread involved. It’s the most straightforward type of sports bet - just pick the winner.
