There's a whole lot to like about the pitching matchup for Canada, as it'll be Julio Teheran vs. Michael Soroka.

💰 Colombia vs. Canada best bet
Canada ML (-105)
The presence of Josh Naylor and Tyler O'Neil alone is imposing enough with Julio Teheran on the mound.
Teheran has been repeatedly imploding at any level recently. He last pitched in MLB during the 2024 season, when the veteran was serviceable with a 4.40 ERA. But during the same season he was roasted in the minor leagues while putting up an 8.94 ERA. That continued in the Mexican league in 2025, when he was napalmed to the tune of a 7.42 ERA.
Canada can pounce on him early and get ahead.
💣 Colombia vs. Canada home run prediction
Josh Naylor to hit a home run (+450)
Josh Naylor is a significant power source for Canada, and he's well-positioned to start the tournament fast as a slugging lefty getting an at-bat or two against Teheran, a righty launchpad waiting to happen.
Naylor posted an .843 OPS in MLB last season against righties, significantly higher than his .759 when facing a southpaw. He's squaring off against a soft-tossing right-hander now who has leaned on a sinker-cutter mixed in the past. Naylor has been thriving against both pitches, posting a .538 slugging percentage last year against cutters and a .478 against sinkers, according to Baseball Savant.
⚖️ How I'm betting Colombia vs. Canada
This is a time and a matchup to be reasonably aggressive. The weakness of Colombia's pitching staff, and especially Teheran, provides an opportunity for profit, and that's especially true with Naylor's home run prop.
Home run markets typically need to be approached with caution. That's still true to some extent here. But as opposed to a quarter-unit play, sprinkle a little bit extra given the juicy matchup for Naylor.
Similarly and again with Teheran in mind, don't be shy about putting down the full unit on the run line while backing Canada.
📊 Colombia vs. Canada odds & analysis
Here are the World Baseball Classic odds for Colombia vs. Canada on today at 7:45 a.m. ET; odds via DraftKings:
| Market | Colombia | Canada |
|---|---|---|
| Moneyline | +170 | -215 |
| Run line | +1.5 (-115) | -1.5 (-105) |
| Over/Under | Over 9.5 (-105) | Under 9.5 (-115) |
We're seeing a heavy lean toward Canada in all regards in the hours before first pitch, with the Canadians getting 81% of the action through DraftKings on the moneyline, and 85% on the run line. Based on that, the price for Canada could shorten further before the game begins, and there might be some run line movement too.
The action is a little more balanced when it comes to the total, though the Under is still decidedly the favored play while getting 65% wagers. We're unlikely to see much more shifting there.

Key players to watch
Canada - Tyler O'Neil: Injuries have repeatedly robbed O'Neil of consistently reaching great heights, but the power is certainly there in his bat. He's played 100-plus games just twice across eight MLB seasons, but O'Neil has still clubbed 30-plus homers in two campaigns, including 31 in 2024.
Colombia - Gio Urshela: There's been a battle with consistency and injuries for Gio Urshela too, but at his best he's a quality contact hitter who provides valuable utility as a defender. He's posted a batting average over .280 in four MLB seasons.
