💰 Best NRFI bets today (Tuesday)

White Sox vs. Yankees NRFI (-130) - 7:05 p.m. ET

  • Davis Martin (2.41 ERA) vs. Gerrit Cole (2.46 ERA)
  • NRFI records: White Sox (29-41) vs. Yankees (33-37)

Martin has been an absolute stud for the White Sox this year and is coming off six innings of shutout baseball against one of the best offenses in baseball - the Atlanta Braves. Today, he gets the Yankees, a team without Aaron Judge and a team that has yet to face this version of the Chicago ace. On the other side is Cole, who's limited this White Sox offense to a .224 xBA across 44 plate appearances, which includes a 4-for-19 mark from two-hitter Andrew Benintendi. I'd price this closer to -140, so let's take this value and run with it.

Mets vs. Reds NRFI (+115) - 7:10 p.m. ET

  • Kodai Senga (9.00 ERA) vs. Brady Singer (5.61 ERA)
  • NRFI records: Rangers (23-43) vs. Royals (35-32)

On the outside looking in, this matchup smells more like a YRFI. However, when you look into the advanced numbers, you begin to see why I'm featuring it as part of my best NRFI bets today. For one, Senga has limited the Reds to just a .144 xBA across a smaller sample size (just 21 plate appearances). But those at-bats include an 0-for-6 mark from Eugenio Suarez, which should put us in a good position to get six simple outs. Singer has done a pretty solid job of getting the Mets out, too, generating a 28% whiff rate. If he can get by Juan Soto (.382 xBA), we should be good to go.

💡 How I'm betting NRFI picks today (June 16)

Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.

Placing a high-variance bet like a No Run First Inning (NRFI) requires a deep dive into the data every single day. You need to look at how the pitcher matches up with the lineup - specifically the top three hitters - while tracking strikeout rates, expected batting averages, and team NRFI trends. Run through this checklist before every wager, and scale your unit sizing accordingly.

❓ NRFI betting FAQ

What does NRFI mean in baseball betting?

NRFI stands for "No Run First Inning." It's a popular MLB bet that neither team will score in the first inning of a game, and the bet settles after just six outs (three per half-inning).

What does YRFI mean?

YRFI stands for "Yes Run First Inning" - the opposite of an NRFI. This MLB prop bet cashes if there's at least one run by either team in the first inning.

What should I look for when betting NRFIs?

Each team's starting pitcher is the biggest factor in cashing a NRFI bet, but you should also focus on each team's NRFI records (home vs. away) and each lineup's first-inning tendencies. Recent form can also play a bigger role than full-season numbers.
