💰 Best NRFI bets today (Friday, July 31)

Pirates vs. Reds NRFI (-145) - 6:10 p.m. ET

  • Paul Skenes (3.66 ERA) vs. Hunter Greene (7.06 ERA)
  • NRFI records: Pirates (58-52) vs. Reds (54-54)

You shouldn't need any convincing to ride the NRFI in this pitching matchup, but I'm going to get you on board anyway. Skenes is striking this Cincinnati lineup out at an astronomical 34% clip while holding them to a .247 xwOBA over 95 plate appearances - now that's a sample size that can give us some quality answers. It helps that Elly De La Cruz (.225 xBA) and Eugenio Suarez (.164 xBA) both struggle against the Pirates ace. On the other side is a fireballer who, although he hasn't had the greatest start to his season, dominates this matchup against Pittsburgh. Greene has limited this Pirates offense to a .210 xBA over 62 plate appearances, which will play as part of our best NRFI bets today.

Tigers vs. Athletics NRFI (+115) - 9:40 p.m. ET

  • Casey Mize (2.70 ERA) vs. Jeffrey Springs (6.23 ERA)
  • NRFI records: Tigers (57-52) vs. Athletics (53-56)

Mize is having a fantastic season, and Springs has had a great career against this Tigers lineup - what does that add up to? A NRFI. While Mize is limiting the Athletics to a .218 xBA, it's Springs who I'm most confident in here (yes, surprising, I know). However, the lefty is holding the Tigers to a .327 xwOBA across 60 plate appearances, which is a large enough sample size we can get behind. Fire this one up and let's sweep the board as part of our best NRFI bets today.

💡 How I'm betting NRFI picks today (July 31)

Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.

A NRFI (No Run First Inning) bet carries high variance, meaning success requires a disciplined, daily dive into the data. Before placing a wager, run through a strict checklist: analyze how the starting pitcher matches up against the top three hitters in the lineup, track underlying metrics like strikeout rates (K%) and expected batting averages (xBA), and review recent team-specific first-inning scoring trends. Because a single mistake or lucky hit can ruin the bet instantly, always use this daily routine to guide your wagers and scale your unit sizing accordingly to protect your bankroll.
