My Vanderbilt vs. Alabama prediction for a loaded Week 6 highlights a marquee game in our college football picks. Alabama is out for revenge after Vanderbilt secured a jaw-dropping upset last year, and the action is scheduled to get underway from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala., at 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC).
Alabama is an 11.5-point betting favorite at home this week. I'm also featuring a player prop for Vanderbilt running back Sedrick Alexander as part of our college football predictions for Week 6.

⚓️ Vanderbilt +11.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Commodores look to go on the road and upset Alabama again. But this time they’re a ranked team and only getting 11.5 points. But we’ve seen quarterback Diego Pavia win in hostile SEC environments several times.
But for as much credit as Pavia deserves while ranking seventh nationally in passing efficiency (184.6) and first in the SEC, Vanderbilt’s offensive and defensive lines have been thriving. The team sits second in offensive line yards per rush (3.5) and is solidly above average in defensive line yards per rush (2.5). Both of those metrics are massive improvements over last year.
Alabama deserves a lot of respect, especially with Ty Simpson ranked 13th nationally in passing efficiency (173.1) and second in the SEC. The problem, unlike with Vanderbilt, is in the defensive trenches. Alabama will be without multiple key defensive linemen. The unit was already average while allowing 2.8 defensive line yards per rush. So this game could get ugly, especially since the whole defense is fourth-worst in the conference in explosive plays permitted.
Bet Vanderbilt to cover +11.5 for -110 (52.4% implied probability) to score a $9.09 profit on a $10 bet. If you're feeling confident, mix in some moneyline action at +385 (20.6%) through FanDuel for a $38.5 payout on a $10 wager.

⬆️ Sedrick Alexander Over 41.5 rushing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐
One key part of Vanderbilt’s offense on Saturday will be what running back Sedrick Alexander can contribute on the ground. Although he trails Pavia in total rushing yards and yards per carry, Alexander stands to benefit the most as a rusher from Vanderbilt’s stout offensive line. Alexander can simply fall forward on 12 carries to cash the Over if the Commodores can continue to generate 3.5 line yards per rush.
This line is likely so low because the best sports betting sites are anticipating a pass-heavy game script from a Vanderbilt team expected to be playing from behind. But Alexander still went Over 42 rushing yards in two of Vanderbilt’s three conference losses. He also sailed Over in two of their three conference wins, including the matchup with Alabama. Vanderbilt’s offensive line is simply playing too well to leave this bet off your card.
Back Alexander for at least 42 rushing yards at -114 (53.3%) on FanDuel to score an $8.77 profit on a $10 wager.
