UCLA vs. Ohio State Prediction & Opening Odds for College Football Week 12
The gap between No. 1 Ohio State and the rest of the country is widening each week, and that is reflected in this week’s opening odds ahead of my UCLA vs. Ohio State prediction. My early picks are backing the Buckeyes as a 30.5-point betting favorite ahead of kickoff from Ohio Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET (NBC) before the line ticks up further.
The first of my college football Week 12 predictions back the top-ranked Buckeyes before their line reaches a key betting number against a UCLA team coming off a disappointing home loss.

Ohio State is coming off a tidy 34-10 win over Purdue after starting slow and being held scoreless in the first quarter. The Buckeyes' offense got rolling after that, and it likely could have been a bigger margin of victory if not for Ohio State chewing up five minutes or more on six drives, five of which ended in scores.
Everything aligned for UCLA to earn a home victory over Nebraska last week, but the Bruins were upset 28-21 at home. The Cornhuskers traveled to California for their sixth game in six weeks and started their backup quarterback, while UCLA was coming off a bye.
The most disappointing part for the Bruins is that everyone outside of quarterback Nico Iamaleava combined for 71 yards on 22 carries despite facing a Nebraska defense that had ranked outside the top 100 in rushing yards allowed before and after contact.
Ohio State is already up to -31.5 at the high end of the market, so I am making this wager at FanDuel before it aligns with its competitors. Through its -110 odds at a 52.38% implied probability, a $10 winning wager would net $9.09 in profits.

The difference between the -30.5 point spread on the low end of the market and the -31.5 at the high end is a big one, considering 31 is a key betting number in football. UCLA has received 88% of the early wagers, but Ohio State is sure to attract much of the public money, given it is the unanimous No. 1 team in the country.
The O/U is a sharp line thus far, with all best sports betting sites in unison with the 48.5-point total at -110 juice on either side. Both teams are profitable to the Under this year, so this could be the high-point for the total throughout the week.
