Texas and Ohio State have two of the most talented rosters in college football, so there are plenty of intriguing playmakers on the field from which to select our Texas vs. Ohio State touchdown scorer predictions as part of our college football picks today.
After leaning the Longhorns’ way with my early Texas vs. Ohio State pick as part of our college football Week 1 predictions, two of their players make up my trio of touchdown picks.
Kickoff for this AP top-3 tilt is set for noon ET from Ohio Stadium in Columbus (FOX). The Buckeyes are anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5-point betting favorites in a game with an O/U of 47.5 points.

💰 Best Texas vs. Ohio State touchdown scorer bets
Here are my favorite Texas vs. Ohio State touchdown scorer bets picks based on the best college football odds for Week 1.
🔥 CJ Baxter to score anytime touchdown (+150) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Longhorns running back CJ Baxter is on the College Football Comeback of the Year preseason watch list after missing all of 2024 with injury.
While fellow back Quintrevion Wisner is a Maxwell Award candidate and is expected to lead the backfield in carries, it wouldn’t be surprising for head coach Steve Sarkisian to feed Baxter on the goal line as a feel-good story for a touchdown in his first game back.
Baxter rushed for 659 yards and five touchdowns in 2023, so I am taking a flier on his +150 odds (which are as short as +100 at DraftKings) compared to Wisner’s best +130 odds.
The +150 odds at FanDuel return a much better profit than the 50/50 implied odds at DraftKings, as a winning $10 wager results in $15 in net profit.

🔥 Carnell Tate to score anytime touchdown (+170) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is the top non-quarterback on the Heisman Trophy odds leaderboard. But that also means he is likely to get the bulk of the defense’s attention each week. That was especially true in last year’s semifinal win over Texas when the Longhorns held Smith to one catch for three yards, while Tate feasted for a game-high seven receptions and 87 yards.
While Smith set Ohio State freshman records for catches (76), yards (1,315), and touchdowns (15) last year, his -115 odds are not worth the investment given last year’s performance against a team with much of its secondary returning.
Tate failed to score a touchdown in any of the last six games a year ago, but taking a chance that he forms an instant connection with new quarterback Julian Sayin is worth the $17 potential profit on a winning $10 wager. Tate’s implied probability to find the end zone is as high as 41.67% based on his shortest +140 anytime touchdown odds.

🔥 DeAndre Moore Jr. to score anytime touchdown (+200) ⭐⭐⭐

Ryan Wingo has the highest total for receiving yards of any Longhorn at an O/U of 51.5. And while DeAndre Moore Jr.’s O/U is slightly lower at 41.5 (as high as 44.5 at bet365), his position of running routes out of the slot is more appealing for an anytime touchdown bet, given how much more likely he will be targeting out of Texas’ heavy run-pass option usage.
Moore is the only returning Longhorns receiver who had at least four catches against Ohio State last year. He played well down the stretch last year, with two of his seven touchdowns coming in the SEC championship game and a playoff game, proving he is a safe play for an anytime touchdown against elite competition.
Therefore, Moore should have much higher than a 1-in-3 chance to find the endzone, which DraftKings’ +200 odds imply. But I am happy to back him at a price that would double my initial $10 wager in potential profits.
