Texas vs. Georgia Prediction & Opening Odds for College Football Week 12

My best Texas vs. Georgia prediction based on the opening odds for Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC) game at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga., focuses on the strong defensive performances of both teams. No. 5 Georgia opened as the 6.5-point favorite, and although early picks are backing the Bulldogs, the spread has dropped to 6 at some spots.
Below, I explain why the rush defense from No. 11 Texas is likely going to result in a low-scoring game. It's all part of our college football Week 12 predictions.

⬇️ Under 48.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Georgia's offense is averaging 33.4 points per game, which is the only reason this isn’t a five-star play. While Texas has allowed at least 31 points in consecutive games, overall the Longhorns are only giving up 16.4 points per outing. Meanwhile, Georgia is allowing 19.8 points per game, and Texas has scored more than 23 points during just one contest against a ranked opponent.
Georgia has been dominating games with its rushing attack while averaging 197.2 rushing yards per matchup and 4.7 yards per carry. But Texas is allowing just 78.2 rushing yards per contest and 2.4 per carry. I expect Georgia to run effectively, but the Bulldogs won’t break off as many chunk plays, leading to sustained drives that drain the clock and keep this total Under.
BetMGM’s price implies a 52.38% chance that this Under hits. A $10 bet would profit $9.09.

🔢 Texas vs. Georgia opening odds
- Moneyline: Texas +180 | Georgia -220
- Spread: Texas +6.5 (-110) | Georgia -6.5 (-110)
- Over/Under: Over 48.5 (-110) | Under 48.5 (-110)
↔️ Texas vs. Georgia line movement
The spread has already dropped to 6 points at some of the best sports betting sites, despite the overwhelming majority of bettors (63%) backing Georgia to cover. Oddsmakers seem content to keep this spread below 7, but I doubt it drops to 5.5.
The total has already descended to 47.5 at most of the best sports betting apps. With how inefficient Texas has been offensively against great defenses, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this number tumble further to 46.5 before kickoff. However, Georgia’s offense has been great too, so if the total does get that low, it would likely bounce back to 47.5.
