With the Black college football national championship on the line in the Celebration Bowl, my South Carolina State vs. Prairie View A&M prediction is backing Tremaine Jackson's program to pull off another upset.
South Carolina State is a 1.5-point betting favorite for Saturday's noon ET (ABC) Celebration Bowl from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, but my college football predictions are taking the Panthers to bring home their first Black college football national championship since 1964.

This is the third time since 2021 that South Carolina State has won the MEAC and is playing in the Celebration Bowl, and the second straight year under head coach Chennis Berry. And while that experience can only help the Bulldogs, they're barking up the wrong tree against a Prairie View A&M program that's on a magical run.
First-year head coach Tremaine Jackson led the Panthers to an upset of Jackson State in the SWAC Championship last week, a program that had played for the Black college football national championship three times in four years. Meanwhile, this is Prairie View A&M's first time playing in the Celebration Bowl, but I couldn't be more in on this team's trajectory.
Prairie View A&M has a dominant defense that allows both the third-fewest points (16.2) and yards per game (267.5) in the FCS. Led by a loaded secondary highlighted by Travor Randle, the Panthers are poised to pounce on a Bulldogs offense that's one-dimensional with a limited rushing attack.
And though I expect this to be more of a defensive battle, Prairie View A&M has the best playmaker taking the field in this matchup. QB Cameron Peters is a dynamic threat, and well complemented by running back Chase Bingmon and wide receiver Jyzaiah Rockwell.
