We're kicking off our college football predictions for Week 6 with my best Sam Houston vs. New Mexico State player props for tonight's Conference USA clash.
The winless Bearkats are the 2.5-point road betting favorite ahead of kickoff at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces, N.M. (9 p.m. ET, CBSSN).
My college football picks for this contest target both starting quarterbacks, including backing New Mexico State's Logan Fife to go Over two of his totals.

💰 Best Sam Houston vs. New Mexico State player prop picks
Our college football player prop odds tool shows the best odds for every market across legal sportsbooks in your area.
⬆️ Logan Fife Over 1.5 passing TDs (-148) ⭐⭐⭐
Do I have a ton of faith in Logan Fife? Not really. After all, he has more interceptions (13) than touchdown passes (11) in his college career. However, nearly half of Fife’s touchdowns have come in his first four games at New Mexico State — including two scores each against Tulsa and Louisiana Tech (his only two multi-TD games).
Still, this Sam Houston vs. New Mexico State player prop isn’t a bet “on” Fife; it’s a bet “against” a defense that has surrendered 11 TD passes in four games. Western Kentucky’s Maverick McIvor, Hawaii’s Luke Weaver and Texas’ Arch Manning each had three TDs against Sam Houston, while UNLV’s Anthony Colandrea had two. Yep, the Bearkats have yielded multiple TD passes in every game.
Place this bet at FanDuel, where the -148 odds equate to a 59.68% implied win probability. A successful $10 bet pays $6.76.
⬆️ Logan Fife Over 271.5 passing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐
Not to sound like a broken record, but … Sam Houston's secondary has struggled just a little bit. And by struggle I mean that out of 136 FBS teams, the Bearkats rank 133rd in pass defense, yielding 321.8 yards per contest. Only SMU (334.5) is worse.
Of the aforementioned quarterbacks that feasted on Sam Houston’s defense, three — McIvor (401), Manning (309) and Weaver (294) — cleared 290 yards. Only UNLV’s Colandrea (249) fell short. Then again, he only threw 23 passes.
In his last three games, Fife has recorded 252, 283 and 255 passing yards against Tulsa, Louisiana Tech and New Mexico. That trio correspondingly ranks 51st, 94th and 108th against the pass — not great, but not next-to-last in the nation.
FanDuel’s -114 price on this Sam Houston vs. New Mexico State player pro implies a 53.49% win probability. Risk $10 to win $8.77.
🔥 Hunter Watson to score anytime TD (-115) ⭐⭐
Sam Houston has only scored 65 points in four games, with the offense producing just six touchdowns. So this Sam Houston vs. New Mexico State player prop carries some inherent risk. That being said, Bearkats quarterback Hunter Watson has scored two of his team’s five TDs, both on the ground against Western Kentucky and UNLV.
After sitting out a Week 3 game at Hawaii, Watson returned for Sam Houston’s most recent contest at Texas, which pitched a 55-0 shutout behind one of the nation’s best defenses. Now, Watson faces a New Mexico State stop unit that allowed 87 total points (and 11 TDs) to its last two opponents (Louisiana Tech and New Mexico).
So let’s back Watson to find the end zone at least once Thursday night. bet365 offers -115 odds for a 53.49% win probability. A $10 wager could return $8.70.
