My best Pittsburgh vs. East Carolina player props for Saturday’s 11 a.m. ET Military Bowl (ESPN) at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md., focus on Mason Heintschel, Kenny Johnson, and Marlon Gunn Jr. Pitt is favored by 10 as we make some of our college football predictions this week.

Most key pieces of the Pitt offense will be playing in this game, which is why I love the duo of Heintschel and Johnson. Meanwhile, Gunn will get the start at running back against one of the best rush defenses in the nation.

Stay ahead this bowl season with our updated college football bowl game odds and schedule.

Mason Heintschel Over 264.5 passing yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

East Carolina is allowing the fewest rushing yards per game in the American Conference, but the Pirates are also giving up 228.7 passing yards per contest. Though Heintschel hasn’t topped this total in three consecutive games, he’s managed at least 300 yards in four of his nine outings this season.

Heintschel’s last three opponents were all ranked, and he’s only failed to top 300 yards in one start against an unranked opponent.

Kenny Johnson to score a touchdown (-120) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Johnson leads Pitt with 48 receptions and 695 receiving yards, but he’s second on the team with five receiving touchdowns. He’s made his presence known down the stretch, scoring in three of his last five games.

The wideout has notched four-plus receptions in five of his last six games. The only opponent he failed to clear that mark against was Miami. This would be a five-star play, but East Carolina has allowed just 15 passing touchdowns.

Marlon Gunn Jr. Under 56.5 rushing yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

London Montgomery, East Carolina’s lead rusher, will sit out this game, which means Gunn gets the unenviable task of taking on the majority of the workload against a Pitt defense allowing just 97.0 rushing yards per game.

Gunn rushed for 130 yards in his last outing, but he didn’t top 64 yards in any other contest this season. He’s averaging 5.7 yards per rush, but Pitt is allowing just 2.8 yards per carry.
