Penn State vs. Ohio State Prediction & Odds Today: College Football Week 10 Betting Preview

No. 1 Ohio State is poised to dominate Penn State this weekend, and the 20.5-point spread may be undervaluing the Buckeyes.

My best Penn State vs. Ohio State prediction for today's noon ET game (FOX) at Ohio Stadium in Columbus focuses on how outmatched Penn State is in this matchup. No. 1 Ohio State is favored by 20.5.

Penn State is just 1-6 against the spread this season, and with Ohio State covering in six of its seven games, this game has the potential to get really ugly, really fast. We have more coverage of this game and the rest of this weekend’s schedule in our college football Week 10 predictions.

💵 Penn State vs. Ohio State best bets

  • Game prediction: Ohio State -20.5 (-110 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Player prop bet: Ethan Grunkemeyer Under 131.5 passing yards (-114 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

🏈 Penn State vs. Ohio State preview & score prediction

Two weeks ago, Penn State freshman quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer started against Iowa. He completed 15-of-28 passes for just 93 yards and two interceptions. Ohio State is allowing just 131.3 passing yards per game, and the Buckeyes have held all but one opponent to fewer than 10 points.

Ohio State is simply too good for Penn State

Penn State is averaging 169.6 rushing yards per game, and without Drew Allar against Iowa, they leaned heavily on the rushing attack to stay competitive. Kaytron Allen finished with two touchdowns and 145 of Penn State’s 173 yards.

But Ohio State is allowing just 85.6 rushing yards per game. Without a threatening passing attack, Ohio State will sell out to stop the run, and the Penn State running backs will have no room to maneuver.

And then there is the Ohio State offense. The Buckeyes are averaging 36.4 points per game, scoring at least 34 in all but two contests. With Penn State allowing at least 22 in four consecutive games, it’s hard to imagine them slowing down this offense.

FanDuel’s price of -110 implies a 52.38% chance that Ohio State covers. A $10 bet would profit $9.09.

✅ Score prediction: Ohio State 35, Penn State 6

🆚 Key matchup to watch

Ethan Grunkemeyer vs. the Ohio State secondary

One of the most impressive things about Ohio State’s defense is that, despite winning four games by at least 28 points, the pass defense doesn’t give up empty yards late. Only one quarterback has managed over 200 yards against them, while four have been held below 100 yards.

Grunkemeyer has only thrown more than two passes in two games this season, and he averaged just 3.3 yards per attempt against Iowa. This prop is set right at the average passing yards Ohio State has allowed per game this season, which feels really generous for an unproven freshman.

✅ Best player prop bet: Ethan Grunkemeyer Under 131.5 passing yards (-114 via FanDuel)
