College Football Parlay Predictions for Week 2
Texas Team Total Under 21.5 (-118)
The Quinn Ewers era in Texas got off to a successful start as he went 16-of-24 for 225 yards and two touchdowns with one INT in his first career start against UL Monroe. However, the Longhorns offensive line looked discombobulated at times, allowing three sacks and several other pressures. Thus, we worry about Texas’ ability to score in this high-profile matchup against Alabama, given that the Longhorns’ biggest weakness seems to match up against the Crimson Tide’s biggest strength.
Texas is starting two freshmen on the offensive line, left tackle Kelvin Banks and right guard Cole Hutson. Meanwhile, Alabama has a potential Heisman candidate on defense in Will Anderson, whose 17.5 sacks in 2021 led FBS and ranks third in team history. Look for Nick Saban and the Alabama coaching staff to move Anderson all over the line of scrimmage to exploit mismatches.
The Crimson Tide will also emphasize stopping the run and not letting Bijan Robinson get loose for big gains.

Akron +34.5 (-110)
Michigan State was solid in all facets in a 35-13 season-opening win against Western Michigan. Quarterback Payton Thorne threw four touchdown passes to four different receivers, proving that the offense can be much more than running back Jalen Berger, who ran for 120 yards.
In addition, the Spartans' defense recorded seven sacks. Still, that side of the ball is the concern in this matchup, as they lost two defensive starters, linebacker Darius Snow (out for the season) and safety Xavier Henderson (out indefinitely).
Akron is led by former Oregon offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead, who coordinated record-setting offenses in his time at Penn State in 2016 and 2017. We trust Moorhead’s offensive creativeness to exploit the holes in Michigan State’s defense and help the Zips cover the spread for the second time in their last seven games against Big Ten opponents.
Kentucky +5 (-104)
Expectations for head coach Billy Napier and Florida are sky-high after the Week 1 upset of No. 7-ranked Utah. However, how high would we be on the Gators entering this week if they did not come up with a game-sealing interception when the Utes were inside the 5-yard line going for the game-winning score?
Utah is one of the most physical teams in the country, so playing a second consecutive game against a team content to ground-and-pound its way to a win is a daunting task.
The Wildcats again expect to be without leading rusher Chris Rodriguez Jr., who was suspended for the opener after a DUI arrest this summer. In addition, Kentucky’s rushing attack needs to be much better than it was against Miami (OH), as it gained just 50 yards on 26 carries. But the Wildcats have the much more solid defense of these two teams and beat the Gators last year despite 224 yards of total offense.
This is a heavy contrarian play, with the Wildcats receiving fewer than 24% of the tickets and handle, but we are happy to side with the books.
Combined Odds: Texas Team Total Under 21.5 (-118) + Akron +34.5 (-110) + Kentucky +5 (-104) = +591
