With plenty of questions surrounding the QBs for this year's Red River Rivalry, my Oklahoma vs. Texas prediction and college football picks expects a low-scoring game at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC).

Despite Texas coming off its second loss last week, the Longhorns are 2.5- to 3-point favorites against a Sooners team that may have John Mateer back in the fold. And while early public betting is heavily backing Oklahoma to cover (73%), my college football predictions for Week 7 play it safe by focusing on the game total.

Stay ahead with the rest of our early college football predictions for Week 7.

⬇️ Under 42.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐

Texas allowing 29 points to a Florida offense that hadn’t scored more than 16 in an FBS game is worrying. However, Texas is still allowing just 12 points per game, which ranks fifth in the nation. The defense held Ohio State to just 14 in Week 1.

Oklahoma is averaging 33.8 points per game, but it managed just 24 against Auburn and Michigan. Oklahoma is allowing just 7.2 points per game, which ranks second in the country. Considering how much Arch Manning and the Texas offense have struggled, I don’t anticipate them being the first team to score more than 17 against Oklahoma.

Under 42.5 is available for -110 at four of the five best sports betting sites, including BetMGM. The odds imply a 52.38% chance this game goes Under. A $10 bet would pay $9.09.

💡 Oklahoma vs. Texas odds analysis

I don’t know who Texas is yet, so I wouldn’t bet this spread no matter what. That said, the number has already dropped to 2.5 at FanDuel, and with over 70% of bettors backing Oklahoma, I expect this number to continue to shrink. If you’re on Texas, wait to wager. As for the total, 56% of bettors back the Over, but the total hasn’t increased anywhere. While this number may go up to 43 or 43.5, the movement won’t be significant enough for Under bettors. Therefore, there’s no benefit to waiting to wager.
