North Texas vs. Charlotte Prediction, Picks & Odds: Who'll Win in College Football Week 9?

Last Updated: October 23, 2025 8:19 AM EDT • 4 minute read X Social Google News Link

North Texas looks to remain in contention for AAC Championship and College Football Playoff berths when it travels for a Friday night road game against Charlotte. While the Mean Green are a 26.5-point betting favorite, my North Texas vs. Charlotte prediction and college football picks suggest they could get caught looking past an inferior opponent.
Adding to my college football predictions for Week 9 is a play on the Under given North Texas’ home/road splits. Kickoff from Jerry Richardson Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., is at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2).

🆚 Who will win North Texas vs. Charlotte?
As a near four-touchdown favorite, North Texas is not in danger of losing this game outright to a Charlotte team that has lost its six games by an average of 21.8 points per game, and all by double digits.
✅ Best North Texas vs. Charlotte bet
⛏️ Charlotte +26.5 (-108) ⭐⭐⭐
North Texas did not let the sting of a 27-point home loss to AAC favorite South Florida grow into something bigger, as it pounded UTSA 55-17 at home as four-point favorites last week. And while the Mean Green have covered the spread in their two games as favorites of at least 13 points, I am wary of this road game, as both of their road wins have been by one possession.
North Texas in a lookahead spot?
North Texas heads home next week to take on a Navy team that is one of six remaining unbeaten FBS teams. If North Texas loses that game to drop its second game in conference play, that would all but vanquish its chances of reaching the AAC title game, especially since three fellow conference members are all undefeated in league play at the moment.
Preparing for Navy’s unique offensive style has likely already begun and impacted North Texas’ preparation for this week. In addition, the Mean Green have had lapses in games that suggest Charlotte should cover this big number, such as when they allowed four touchdowns in a 3.5-minute span against South Florida.
Charlotte is just 2-4-1 ATS this season, and is 1-8 ATS in its last nine home October games. However, that has already been baked into the line, and a spread this big also opens the possibility of a backdoor cover.
At one point, FanDuel was the only one of our best sports betting sites offering a spread as high as +27.5. While it has since aligned with the rest of the market, it is also the only sportsbook charging less than the standard -110 juice at 52.38% implied odds to back the underdogs. Through its -108 odds, a $10 wager would net $9.26 in profits if Charlotte covers.
⚖️ North Texas vs. Charlotte score prediction: North Texas 38-Charlotte 17

⬇️ Under 61.5 (-108) ⭐⭐⭐
Casual bettors will see that either North Texas, or its opponent, have scored 45-plus points in four of its last five games. In addition, five of the Mean Green’s last six games have seen 63 or more combined points scored.
However, North Texas also accomplished all of this while playing the 121st toughest schedule entering last week, and merely ranks in the top 35 in quality drives despite consistently facing weaker competition.
The Mean Green have averaged 47.4 points per game at home and 39 points on the road. Meanwhile, Charlotte has scored two or fewer touchdowns in five of seven games this season. Thus, North Texas’s play-calling should be a lot more conservative than usual, knowing it will likely not have to be involved in a shootout this week.
This is another contrarian wager that bucks the trend of the Over cashing in six consecutive October games for North Texas.
While other best sports betting apps offer a total a full point lower at 60.5, I am taking advantage of the best number and price after using a DraftKings promo code. Through its -108 odds at a 51.92% implied probability, a $10 winning wager would return $9.26 in profits.
