Did the preseason pressure get to Manning? Or were expectations always far too high for a young QB that had never made a road start before this season? The former five-star may have fallen flat as a Heisman Trophy odds contender, but the Longhorns weathered the storm, and Manning now has Texas ranked No. 10 in the College Football Playoff rankings after beating two top 10 teams in his last four games.
Something has clearly clicked in the last few weeks for the newest star from the First Family of Quarterbacking, and he can continue his ascension against a Georgia defense that's uncharacteristically struggled to stop the pass. Kirby Smart's defense ranks just No. 100 in EPA per pass, and while the Bulldogs are 2-1 against ranked opponents, they've allowed 303.3 passing yards per game to QBs guiding top 25 teams (Ty Simpson, Trinidad Chambliss, Joey Aguilar).
Manning is coming off his two best games of the season, combining for 674 passing yards with seven total TDs and a better than 80% adjusted completion rate against Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, and this is an advantageous matchup against Georgia.
Manning is averaging 235.8 passing yards per game this season, and that's jumped up to 257.3 over his last six games. With his uptick in production and the Bulldogs struggling to stop the pass, the Longhorns' triggerman is positioned to top 220.5 passing yards for the fifth time in his last seven games. If he does (53.49% probability), a $10 bet pays an $8.70 profit.
