It's the final week of the college football regular season, and it's about as loaded as it gets with rivalry games and matchups that have major College Football Playoff ramifications, and we're breaking down the five must-watch college football games on the schedule and ranking the 25 best games in Week 14.
With more than a dozen matchups on Black Friday and a full slate on Saturday, there's non-stop must-watch college football action from the Egg Bowl to The Game to the Iron Bowl, and our college football Week 14 predictions have you covered with all the biggest games.
👀 The 5 must-watch games in college football Week 14
🏆 1. No. 1 Ohio State vs. No. 15 Michigan: The Game
- When: Saturday, Nov. 29 (noon ET)
- Where: Michigan Stadium (Ann Arbor, Mich.)
- How to watch: FOX
- NFL prospect matchup to watch: Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State vs. Jyaire Hill, CB, Michigan
Considered the best rivalry in college football, and arguably the best in all of sports, this year's is about as high-stakes as any in recent memory. These two programs have accounted for the last two national titles, but despite winning it all last season, the Buckeyes lost to the Wolverines yet again.
Can Ryan Day snap Ohio State's four-game losing streak in The Game? Or will Michigan pull off a second straight massive upset? A win for Sherrone Moore and his Wolverines would likely get Michigan into the College Football Playoff.
Before Michigan's four-game winning streak, Ohio State had won eight in a row over "that team up north." This is the rare rivalry where winning this single game matters more than pretty much anything else that happens the rest of the season. Hence, why Michigan fans don't mind too much that Ohio State won it all last season, seeing as the Wolverines beat them 13-10 in Columbus.
🤠 2. No. 3 Texas A&M vs. No. 16 Texas: Lone Star Showdown
- When: Friday, Nov. 28 (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC)
- Where: DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium (Austin, Texas)
- How to watch: ABC
- NFL prospect matchup to watch: Trevor Goosby, OT, Texas vs. Cashius Howell, EDGE, Texas A&M
This is the first time since Texas A&M left for the SEC that the Lone Star Showdown is being played in back-to-back seasons, and it's only happening because Texas joined its hated rival in the conference where it just means more.
With the Aggies undefeated, a win over the Longhorns will put them into the SEC Championship and likely lock them into a top-four seed in the College Football Playoff (earning them a bye). Meanwhile, Texas still has a slim shot at the CFP if Arch Manning can lead Steve Sarkisian's team to an upset win.
Given the buzz around Manning entering the season, he hasn't lived up to the hype. However, Peyton and Eli's nephew has started flashing his first-round ability in recent weeks and could be poised to lead a major upset to reframe Texas' disappointing season. Brenden Schaeffer breaks it down with his Texas A&M vs. Texas player props.
🥚 3. No. 7 Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State: Egg Bowl
- When: Friday, Nov. 28 (noon ET)
- Where: Davis Wade Stadium (Starkville, Miss.)
- How to watch: ABC
- NFL prospect matchup to watch: Trinidad Chambliss, QB, Ole Miss vs. Isaac Smith, DB, Mississippi State
The Egg Bowl is consistently one of the most entertaining rivalry games because these teams (and their fan bases) legitimately hate each other so much.
That hate has led to some iconic moments, like Dak Prescott coming into a game hurt and leading Mississippi State to an OT win, DK Metcalf fake peeing like a dog in 2017 (and a brawl happening in that same game), and of course, Elijah Moore fake peeing like a dog in 2019. Moore's pee after a TD led to a penalty and a missed extra point as a result ... which gave Mississippi State the win.
This year, Ole Miss is dealing with the Lane Kiffin situation heading into the Egg Bowl. Apparently, Kiffin, who's being courted by LSU and Florida, will make his decision on where he'll coach after this game. The CFP selection committee has said it may punish the Rebels in the rankings if Kiffin leaves. So if Ole Miss loses to the Bulldogs, and Kiffin leaves, the Rebs might miss the CFP.
And if that wasn't motivation enough for Mississippi State, a win gets Jeff Lebby's program bowl eligible. Don't miss Isaiah Sirois' Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State player props for who to watch in this one.
🔥 4. No. 4 Georgia vs. No. 23 Georgia Tech: Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate
- When: Friday, Nov. 28 (3:30 p.m. ET)
- Where: Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta)
- How to watch: ABC
- NFL prospect matchup to watch: Keylan Rutledge, OG, Georgia Tech vs. Christen Miller, IDL, Georgia
Few rivalry games have a better nickname than "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate." Though Georgia has dominated this rivalry, especially over the last two and a half decades, Georgia Tech has come to play the last two years, thanks to Brent Key's turnaround of the program. Last season, Georgia Tech lost 44-42 in an eight overtime game. It was the closest the Yellow Jackets have come to a win since 2014.
This year's game is the best on paper in years, with both teams ranked and plenty on the line. Georgia needs to win to stay alive in the SEC Championship race, and Georgia Tech needs to win to stay alive in the ACC Championship race.
What makes this year's edition of Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate so fun is how these teams match up. Georgia Tech loves to run the ball with QB Haynes King, one of the toughest players in the sport, and Georgia relishes in stopping the run with CJ Allen and Christen Miller. This game will be a bar fight.
Brenden Schaeffer's Georgia vs. Georgia Tech player props see a big game for Haynes King and Nate Frazier.
⚒️ 5. No. 10 Alabama vs. Auburn: Iron Bowl
- When: Saturday, Nov. 29 (7:30 p.m. ET)
- Where: Jordan-Hare Stadium (Auburn, Ala.)
- How to watch: ABC
- NFL prospect matchup to watch: Kadyn Proctor, OT, Alabama vs. Keldric Faulk, DL, Auburn
Like most of the the top rivalry games in college football, there's no reason to get caught up in Alabama and Auburn's records heading into the Iron Bowl. Sure, the Tigers fired Hugh Freeze after yet another disappointing season, but don't count Auburn out of playing spoiler to an inconsistent Alabama program.
If the Crimson Tide win, they punch their ticket to the SEC Championship, and if they lose ... they likely won't even make the College Football Playoff. A loss to this lowly Auburn team could also have Kalen DeBoer on the hot seat, not to mention there are already plenty of rumors that he's eying the Penn State job.
With Auburn having a top-ranked defense and home-field advantage at Jordan-Hare, don't count the Tigers out completely. We already saw this Alabama team no-show against a bad Florida State team on the road. Auburn hasn't won the Iron Bowl since 2019.
