🔮 BYU vs. Texas Tech early prediction

⬇️ Under 50.5 (-110)

These two teams already played once in the regular season, with Texas Tech winning decisively at home, 29-7. At a neutral site, closer to Lubbock than Provo, I expect Texas Tech to win once again, but the spread is a little large for a championship game. I feel more comfortable taking the Under at this point, with both teams having ferocious defenses.

Texas Tech's front seven is dominant, and the Red Raiders sit No. 4 in defensive SP+. BYU freshman QB Bear Bachmeier should once again struggle to get into a rhythm. But the Cougars' defense is capable of doing their part for this Under, especially with how well their secondary has played down the stretch.

📊 Miami (OH) vs. Western Michigan odds: MAC Championship

  • Date: Saturday, Dec. 6
  • Kickoff: Noon ET
  • Location: Ford Field (Detroit)
  • How to watch: ESPN

📊 Georgia vs. Alabama odds: SEC Championship

  • Location: Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta)
  • How to watch: ABC

🔮 Georgia vs. Alabama early prediction

🐶 Georgia -1.5 (-110)

This Georgia team feels a lot different than the one that lost 24-21 to Alabama in September. The Bulldogs' defense has stepped it up in the last month and now ranks No. 8 in defensive SP+ thanks to players like CJ Allen and Christen Miller. The offense has found its identity, too, with Nate Frazier emerging to give Gunner Stockton a bell cow behind him. Meanwhile, Alabama has gone the opposite direction. It's just barely been surviving lately, with its non-existent run game allowing opponents to focus on stopping Ty Simpson. I'm trusting in Kirby Smart and Glenn Schumann to bring it on defense against Kalen DeBoer and Simpson.

📊 Indiana vs. Ohio State odds: Big Ten Championship

  • Date: Saturday, Dec. 6
  • Kickoff: 8 p.m. ET
  • Location: Lucas Oil Stadium (Indianapolis)
  • How to watch: FOX

🔮 Indiana vs. Ohio State early prediction

⬇️ Under 49.5 (-110)

These are the top two teams in the country by just about every metric, and the winner will earn the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff (and the loser will almost certainly still earn a bye). While both offenses are led by the top two Heisman Trophy favorites, it's the defenses that should shine in this matchup. Ohio State and Indiana are the top two programs by defensive SP+, with the Buckeyes allowing the fewest PPG in the country (7.8) and the Hooisers allowing the second-fewest PPG (10.9).

Ohio State hasn't allowed more than 16 points in a game this season, thanks to All-American talents like Caleb Downs and Arvell Reese, while Indiana has only allowed more than two touchdowns in one of nine Big Ten games. Ohio State is 8-4 betting the Under this season.

📊 Duke vs. Virginia odds: ACC Championship

  • Date: Saturday, Dec. 6
  • Kickoff: 8 p.m. ET
  • Location: Bank of America Stadium (Charlotte, N.C.)
  • How to watch: ABC

🔮 Duke vs. Virginia early prediction

⚔️ Virginia -2.5 (-110)

It's crazy that Duke is in the ACC Championship, with the Blue Devils sitting at just 7-5 and being ranked No. 53 by SP+. Manny Diaz's team is fine, but it's so middling that a Duke win over Virginia might lead to a second Group of Six program getting into the CFP instead of the ACC champ. I say all that to say, while Virginia isn't as good as its 10-2 record suggests, the Cavaliers have a far more well-rounded team.

The Hoos have a legitimate defense (No. 23 in defensive SP+), which should give Darian Mensah enough problems that he can't make up for Duke's horrendous defense. The Blue Devils are ranked No. 91 in defensive SP+, and don't have the talent to slow down Chandler Morris, J'Mari Taylor, and Trell Harris. Virginia beat Duke on the road, 34-17, just a few weeks ago.
