Michigan vs. Oklahoma Prediction Today: College Football Week 2 Best Bets, Expert Picks & Odds

Last Updated: September 6, 2025 2:20 PM EDT • 6 minute read X Social Google News Link

The only ranked matchup of Week 2 takes place at Memorial Stadium in Norman, Okla., and my Michigan vs. Oklahoma prediction expects the Sooners to take care of business at home.
Despite being the lower-ranked team, Oklahoma is a 5.5-point betting favorite in tonight's game. Did oddsmakers get this one wrong? My college football picks believe so.
I share my favorite player prop bet for tonight's nationally televised matchup (7:30 p.m. ET, FOX), too, as a part of our college football predictions for Week 2.

🅾️ Oklahoma -4.5 (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’m not happy that this point spread shot up from the opener of Oklahoma -3, but I am in lockstep with the market. Not so much because the Sooners blew me away in Week 1 - sure, they blasted Illinois State 35-3, but … it was Illinois State. (And OU never threatened to cover a massive 40.5-point spread.)
Rather, this is more of a play against Michigan, which was not impressive at all in its 34-17 opening victory over lowly New Mexico. The Wolverines snagged three interceptions, racked up 456 total yards, and quadrupled the Lobos’ rushing total (201-50) - and yet still only won by 17 points against an opponent picked to finish 11th in a bad Mountain West Conference.
Michigan true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood (21-for-31, 251 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs) was solid in his debut. But that was in the Big House. Let’s see how he handles the crazy atmosphere that awaits in Norman.
Moreover, let’s see how Michigan’s defense holds up against a quarterback who is vastly superior to the one they faced a week ago: Oklahoma’s John Mateer.
The highly-touted transfer from Washington State went 30-for-37 for 392 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in his Sooners debut. Mateer, who ran for 826 yards and 15 TDs last year, also tacked on 24 rushing yards and a score.
Yes, Michigan is a big step up in class for Oklahoma. But with the home crowd behind them and Mateer running the show, the Sooners should cruise to a double-digit win. Lay the 4.5 points at DraftKings, which is offering -115 odds that equate to a 53.49% win probability with a $10 wager profiting $8.70.

⬇️ Bryce Underwood Under 191.5 passing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐

Early this week, Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables compared Michigan’s Bryce Underwood to former national champion and No. 1 pick Trevor Lawerence. High praise? For sure. Hyperbolic gamesmanship? Perhaps.
There is no doubting the true freshman’s talents, which were on full display in his Wolverines debut last week. So why is Underwood’s passing projection for Saturday’s game at Oklahoma so modest? The answer is actually in the question: at Oklahoma.
Not only is this the first road game for Underwood - who just turned 18 years old - but he’ll be playing in an extremely hostile environment. And in front of a national TV audience.
To be clear, I’m not down on Underwood’s future. I’m just down on him this week and expect him to come up short of 191.5 passing yards. If you tail this bet, do so at FanDuel, which offers -114 odds. That’s a 53.27% win probability, with a $10 wager potentially netting $8.77.

🔍 Michigan vs. Oklahoma odds analysis
There’s been a significant shift in the Michigan vs. Oklahoma odds this week across the best college football betting sites, with bettors piling on the home team. Oddsmakers opened the Sooners as a field-goal favorite, but that point spread has since jumped to as high as -5.5 at BetMGM. I fully expect some Wolverines money to hit the market prior to kickoff, with this line settling at Oklahoma -4.5.

How do college football odds work?
When betting on college football, the point spread shows how many points the favorite needs to win by in order to cash the bet. For example, a favorite of -3 must win by more than 3 points to cover the spread, while an underdog at +3 must win outright or lose by fewer than 3 points to cover the spread.
Moneyline odds represent the payout for picking the outright winner (+200 means a $100 bet wins $200, while -200 means a $200 bet wins $100). Over/Unders let you wager on whether the combined total will be higher or lower than the set number.
