My Miami (OH) vs. Western Michigan anytime touchdown scorer predictions break down several key players for today's MAC Championship, held at Ford Field in Detroit at noon ET (ESPN).
Western Michigan is a 2.5-point betting favorite, and its solid defense is why I backed the Broncos twice among my three picks as part of my college football conference championship predictions.

Kam Perry, WR, Miami (OH) (+165) ⭐⭐⭐
Western Michigan is appearing in the MAC Championship in large part because of the conference's No. 2-ranked defense, allowing 18.7 points per contest.
The Broncos entered their regular-season finale ranked 32nd nationally in Rushing Success Rate and had allowed 3.5 yards per carry. Thus, it has been slightly easier to beat the Broncos through the air, as they ranked 38th in Passing Success Rate.
Western Michigan is coming off a game in which it allowed Eastern Michigan’s Noah Kim to throw for 327 yards and two touchdowns. That's why I am targeting Kam Perry as my most confident Miami (OH) vs. Western Michigan touchdown scorer bet, especially since he has scored at least one touchdown in back-to-back games and three of the previous four.
There is a sizable difference between the +165 anytime touchdown odds at DraftKings and the +125 odds offered on the low end of the market. A $10 winning wager would net $16.50 in profits, $4 more than what one would win backing Perry at the +125 odds.
Broc Lowry, QB, Western Michigan (2+ TDs, +350) ⭐⭐
Broc Lowry has run for double the amount of touchdowns (14) as he has thrown for (seven). He is a big reason the team averaged 212 rushing yards per game in conference play.
In the team’s 26-17 regular-season loss to Miami (OH), Lowry attempted 28 passes (his second-most of the season), as a negative game script forced a heavier passing volume. But Lowry still ran 20 times in that game, just his second game with 20 or more rushing attempts.
Clearly the Broncos' coaching staff believes it has an advantage over the Redhawks using the quarterback as a big part of the running game, and these are great odds for him to score two or more times in a game for the fifth time this season.
If Lowry scores multiple touchdowns for the third straight game, a $10 winning wager through DraftKings’ +350 odds would net $35 in profits.
Western Michigan Defense/Special Teams (+550) ⭐⭐
No game on the weekend slate, including the slew of FCS playoff games, has a lower O/U than this MAC Championship (43.5). In a game that figures to feature stout defense on both sides, I am taking a flier on the Broncos to score a defensive or special teams touchdown.
While Noah Kim torched this defense for 317 passing yards last week, the Broncos also forced him into three interceptions, and the team came up with five total turnovers. Overall, the Broncos were one of three MAC teams to force at least 19 turnovers this year, and their front seven creates enough havoc consistently that it could force a devastating mistake.
FanDuel offers +800 odds to just back the Broncos' defense to score a touchdown. But it is worth the slightly lower payout to make this wager at DraftKings, who offer +550 odds when including Western Michigan's special teams in our TD pick.
