As expected, the No. 2-ranked Hurricanes are a hefty betting favorite, laying nearly two touchdowns against a Louisville squad that saw its seven-game winning streak snapped in its most recent contest two weeks ago (30-27 overtime defeat to Virginia).
Among these three specific college football predictions for Week 8, I’m calling for Miami quarterback Carson Beck to struggle against one of the nation’s stingiest secondaries.

Louisville? It yields the eighth-fewest air yards per contest (150.4). The top two passers against the Cardinals so far in 2025: Pitt’s Eli Holstein (228 yards) and Virginia’s Chandler Morris (149 yards). Holstein averaged 278.3 passing yards in three games versus FBS opponents prior to facing Louisville. Morris averaged 282.5 against four previous FBS foes.

Granted, 75 of Anderson’s yards came on a busted-play touchdown. But Miami’s Mark Fletcher Jr. is no joke — and Louisville knows it: Fletcher rumbled for 73 and 126 yards against the Cardinals in 2024 and 2023, respectively. He also comes into this game hungry, having been held to a season-low 40 yards against Florida State after racking 86-plus yards in each of the three previous contests.

Three of Bell’s four scores came in the last two games. He had one TD (among 10 receptions) in a 34-27 upset of Pitt and scored twice (among 12 receptions) in a 30-27 overtime loss to Virginia two weeks ago. Bell won’t have it easy against an above-average Miami secondary that has yielded just five aerial TDs in five games. But if Louisville finds the end zone Friday night, Bell is the most likely candidate to score.
