🌰 Julian Sayin, QB, Ohio State: Over 2.5 passing TDs (+130)
There are just a few games left until we likely get an Indiana vs. Ohio State Big Ten Championship on Dec. 6 between the two QBs atop the Heisman Trophy odds. With ballots not due until the next day, Dec. 7, there's a chance the outcome of that matchup will dictate who takes home the Heisman between Fernando Mendoza and Julian Sayin.
And while Sayin (+170) is the Heisman favorite over Mendoza (+190) coming out of Week 11, my Heisman Trophy odds breakdown argued that the Indiana star is the better bet. He's racked up massive "Heisman moments" for a non-traditional power, and that's going to impress the voters more than another Ohio State QB lighting up mediocre Big Ten defenses.
With that said, Sayin's counting numbers are jaw-dropping, and if he continues to add to them, he'll make it impossible for some voters to choose against him with the Buckeyes being viewed as the college football national championship odds favorite. He and receiver Jeremiah Smith should add to those numbers in Week 12 against a lackluster UCLA defense, even if wideout Carnell Tate doesn't play.
The Bruins' temporary Cinderella story in La-La Land has been completely derailed in recent weeks, with UCLA giving up 84 points in its last two games to Indiana and Nebraska. In those two games, the opposing QBs (Mendoza and Nebraska backup QB TJ Lateef) both threw three touchdowns.
With Sayin putting together one of the most efficient passing seasons in college football history - he leads the country in QBR (91.1), adjusted completion rate (86.3%), and has Ohio State's offense No. 1 in EPA per pass - he should have no problem picking apart a UCLA defense that's No. 82 in EPA per pass.
Sayin has thrown Over 2.5 passing TDs in five games this season, including three of his last five, and if he does it again (43.48% probability), a $10 bet pays a $13 profit.
