The stage is set for an old-school rivalry in the SEC East this week. We are sharing our top Georgia vs. Auburn prediction, which is based on the college football odds from our best sports betting apps, for the highly anticipated matchup between the Bulldogs and Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday.

The Georgia Bulldogs hit the highway as the favorites to win the CFP National Championship ahead of their SEC East rivalry game against Auburn Tigers on Saturday. Georgia has beat Auburn in each of the past six meetings, and the Bulldogs also sport an eye-popping 33-1 active record.

Georgia is understandably a significant favorite for this Week 5 matchup, but the Bulldogs haven't appeared as dominant as they have in previous years, especially in their recent games against the South Carolina Gamecocks and UAB Blazers.

Regrettably for Auburn fans, the Tigers haven't shown much prowess under first-year head coach Hugh Freeze either. Their offense failed to score a touchdown and managed only 200 yards in a 27-10 loss to the Texas A&M Aggies in Week 4. This doesn't bode well for their chances of causing an upset as a double-digit underdog against the top-ranked team in the nation.

As part of our college football predictions for Week 5, here is our best Georgia vs. Auburn prediction and college football picks (odds via our best college football betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Georgia vs. Auburn prediction: Week 5

Auburn +15.5 (-110 via BetRivers) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Auburn returned the most offensive production among SEC schools, and quarterback Payton Thorne is experienced, making 26 starts at Michigan State. However, the Tigers racked up just 200 total yards last week against Texas A&M, with their only touchdown coming on a fourth-quarter defensive scoop and score.

It's surprising Auburn is just slightly more than a two-TD underdog against college football's top-ranked team, especially after giving up seven sacks and 15 tackles against the Texas A&M Aggies. But much of the offensive line's miscommunication, especially the pressure Auburn allowed off the edge, could be because of Kyle Field's hostile environment. Expect that unit to play much more confidently at home.

Most pundits assume Georgia is on cruise control until the SEC Championship and a likely inevitable third consecutive College Football Playoff appearance. But the Bulldogs had veteran QB Stetson Bennett for the last two seasons. New signal caller Carson Beck started 2023 with 168 career snaps in three seasons, and it's his first road game as a starter. He should struggle against an Auburn defense that's above average in allowing 2.7 Points Per Opportunity, -0.034 Passing Predicted Points Added, and has a 42% Success Rate on Standard Downs, per College Football Data.

Georgia isn't invincible, trailing at halftime against South Carolina (the first time it was behind at the half since 2020 vs. Tennessee). The Bulldogs have yet to cover a game this season (0-3-1 ATS), so fade them against an Auburn team that went 4-3-1 ATS in conference matchups last year.

BetRivers (-110)

DraftKings FanDuel BetMGM Caesars bet365
+14.5 +14.5 +14.5 +14.5 +14.5
-115 -110 -110 -110 -110

BetRivers is an easy call for Auburn backers, as our best sports betting apps agree with a spread a point lower at +14.5. Since DraftKings charges a steeper -115 price to take Auburn, BetRivers' +15.5 won't last long, and the sportsbook could align with the rest of its competitors sooner than later. The Bulldogs covered six straight games against the Tigers.

Georgia vs. Auburn odds analysis

Auburn backers may have missed the best number if they waited until now to grab the points, as the Tigers were as high as -18.5 at FanDuel Sunday morning. Other sportsbooks like BetMGM and Caesars never got that high, as their ceiling was -16.5. This game has a classic case of reverse line movement and suggests sharp action backs Auburn, as the early betting splits are 70/30 in Georgia's favor.

Compared to the point spread, there's a wider gap among the best sports betting sites with regard to the total. FanDuel and BetRivers are on the low end at 46.5, BetMGM is highest at 47.5, and all others are in the middle at 47. Again, sharp action likely drove this total down from FD and Caesars' previous high of 47.5 Sunday morning, as the early splits are 52/48 in favor of the Under.

Georgia’s moneyline odds range from -625 at DraftKings to -667 at Caesars.
