Bear Bachmeier Over 236.5 passing yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The BYU passing offense will have to step up on Saturday. The Cougars’ leading rusher, LJ Martin, is out. His rushing yardage prop was all the way up at 106.5 yards before the news. Martin had been averaging over 100 yards per game, so his absence leaves a massive void.

Quarterback Bear Bachmeier has the talent necessary to make up for Martin’s absence. He ranks 57th in passing efficiency (139.2) and was averaging 208.3 passing yards per contest with Martin, a number that should only increase without him. Buy his Over for -115 (53.5%) at bet365.

Carsen Ryan anytime TD scorer (+160) ⭐⭐⭐

With no Martin, the BYU offense will have to get creative in the red zone. Tight end Carsen Ryan and his 6-foot-4, 250-pound frame stand out as a red-zone weapon. Ryan has three touchdowns this season, tying his career-best from 2023, in which he turned 13 receptions into three scores.

I expect a newfound emphasis on the passing game on Saturday. Martin accounted for 12 of BYU’s offensive scores this year, 31 of which came on the ground. Without him, Bachmeier won’t be able to scramble as easily, forcing him to look to the air and weapons like Ryan.

Haynes King Under 65.5 rushing yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐

No disrespect to Haynes King, but the BYU defense ranks 42nd in yards allowed per rush attempt (4.2) and 34th in sacks per game (2.3). King may average 76.8 rushing yards per contest, but with Georgia Tech likely playing from behind, he may lose too many opportunities to the pass rush or obvious passing situations.

We saw King disappear as a rusher in last year’s Birmingham Bowl, too – he scampered 11 times but generated just nine yards versus Vanderbilt. With another tougher-than-ACC opponent on tap this weekend, don’t expect too much from him on the ground.
