🔥 Samuel Singleton Jr. to score anytime TD (+185) ⭐⭐⭐
When I handicap a Gus Malzahn offense, I expect to see the ball in a variety of different rushers’ hands. To this point in the season, Florida State has 17 rushing touchdowns from seven different players. A whopping 15 players have at least one rushing attempt, including five quarterbacks and one wide receiver.
Running back Samuel Singleton Jr. isn’t the starter, but he has been exceptionally efficient on limited volume. His 14 carries have gone for 168 yards (12 per attempt) and three scores. He may not be the lead back like Gavin Sawchuk, who has 25 carries for 160 yards (6.4) and five scores, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him break off a big gain for a touchdown.
The Fremeau Efficiency Index (FEI) projects this as a high-scoring game. With Sawchuk and quarterback Tommy Castellanos at such short odds to find paydirt, you’re better off pivoting and hoping for a broken play to go Singleton’s way. A $10 bet will pay out a nice $18.5 for him to find the end zone at DraftKings.

🔥 Trell Harris to score anytime TD (+175) ⭐⭐⭐
To Virginia’s credit, the Cavaliers are 3-1, with their lone loss coming in a tight one-score game versus conference foe NC State. However, their wins aren’t that impressive – they’ve beaten a bad Coastal Carolina team, a bad Stanford team, and FCS William & Mary. Still, I think veteran quarterback Chandler Morris can get the ball to wide receiver Trell Harris for a touchdown.
Harris is off to an efficient start this year. His 17.8 yards per catch is impressive, and it’s not like that number stems from a single broken play – he exploded for a 75-yard gain against Stanford last week after notching a 48-yard gain against Coastal in the opener. His three receiving touchdowns versus Stanford a week ago now lead the receiver room.
While he isn’t a big-bodied jump ball guy, Harris has the speed to make a house call, and that’s the talent profile we need to target against a solid Florida State defense. Alabama didn’t break many big passing plays, but Kent State broke a 75-yard passing touchdown in the first quarter of last week’s game versus the Noles. Back Harris to do something similar to score a $17.5 profit on a $10 bet.
Our Matt Jacob thinks the Cavaliers might connect for a few touchdown throws in his Florida State vs. Virginia player props.
🔥 Tommy Castellanos to score 2+ TDs (+275) ⭐⭐⭐
It’s always tricky to project anyone in a Malzahn scheme for multiple touchdowns since he distributes the ball so effectively, but if anyone can do it, it’s Castellanos. The quarterback hasn’t shied away from controversy or keeping the ball for himself. He leads the team in rushing attempts (27), ranks fourth in rushing yards (139), and is tied for second in rushing touchdowns (3).
The reason we’re targeting Castellanos for such a big game is Virginia’s defense. The Cavaliers have struggled mightily with rushing quarterbacks this season, especially near the goal line. NC State’s CJ Bailey ran for 44 yards and a pair of touchdowns on six carries. William & Mary’s Noah Brannock ran for 35 yards and the team’s lone touchdown on nine carries.
The odds for Castellanos to score a single touchdown aren’t long enough to warrant serious consideration. Still, since I expect him to play a big role in the red area on Friday night, it’s worth getting some exposure on him to find the end zone at least twice, especially when a $10 bet will score you a solid $27.5 profit.
Our Rob Paul also expects Castellanos to pick up plenty of yards on the ground in his Florida State vs. Virginia prediction.
