🐯 Auburn +6.5 (-106) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Based on who leads these programs - Freeze at Auburn and Mike Elko at Texas A&M - it might be a surprise that the Tigers are the better defensive team while the Aggies have the more explosive offense. But that's exactly why I think Auburn can keep this under a touchdown on the road.

Texas A&M's defense ranks outside the top 25 in SP+, having allowed 40 points to Notre Dame the last time we saw it and giving up 22-plus to UTSA and Utah State - two Group of Five teams that aren't ranked in the top 35 on offense by SP+. Meanwhile, Auburn is loaded at the skill positions with future NFL players like Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton Jr. Those two flashed the goods against an Oklahoma defense ranked in the top 10 in the country.

Jackson Arnold should be able to hook up with those two more consistently if he has more time in the pocket against Texas A&M. And Auburn's defense, led by potential first-round pick Keldric Faulk, is the best Marcel Reed and Co. have seen this season (No. 21 by SP+).

The Tigers have the talent to keep pace with the Aggies, and if they can, a $10 bet pays a $9.43 profit at FanDuel.

🔍 Auburn vs. Texas A&M odds analysis

Texas A&M opened as a 7-point betting favorite at our best college football betting sites, with the line since coming down to 6.5 points despite 59% of bettors backing the Aggies to cover. With these two teams being more evenly matched than Texas A&M's ranking would suggest, and the public backing the Aggies, I'd wait to bet on Auburn to see if this spread moves.

While I like the Tigers as 6.5-point underdogs and would take them to cover as small as a 5.5-point spread, I wouldn't be shocked if they're closer to +7.5 by Saturday afternoon.

How do college football odds work?

When betting on college football odds, the point spread shows how many points the favorite needs to win by in order to cash the bet. For example, a favorite of -3 must win by more than 3 points to cover the spread, while an underdog at +3 must win outright or lose by fewer than 3 points to cover the spread.

Moneyline odds represent the payout for picking the outright winner (+200 means a $100 bet wins $200, while -200 means a $200 bet wins $100). Over/Unders let you wager on whether the combined total will be higher or lower than the set number.
