Indiana just completed the most improbable championship runs in the history of college football to give the Big Ten a third straight title, and my early 2027 CFP National Championship prediction expects the championship belt to stay in the conference.

While Ohio State, Notre Dame, Indiana, and Texas opened as the favorites to win it all, I think the best value lies with a Big Ten team that's returning its star QB and several key defensive players.

Best bet: Oregon (+950)

Three different teams from the Big Ten have won the last three championships. Could Oregon continue the trend by winning its first title in program history? The Ducks were among three teams to rank top 10 in offensive and defensive SP+ this season, and Dan Lanning's roster is shaping up to be one of the best for the 2026 season.

Oregon returns QB Dante Moore, who was projected to be a top-five pick had he gone pro, and he'll be right there with Arch Manning in the Heisman race. Plus, he's surrounded by star playmakers like Jamari Johnson, Dakorien Moore, Jeremiah McClellan, and Jordon Davison.

And Lanning's defense is elite on paper. Oregon brings back its entire starting defensive line, including potential All-American A'Mauri Washington, and added one of the top defenders in the transfer portal (Minnesota safety Koi Perich).

The Ducks have too much talent to be priced this much longer than Ohio State and Notre Dame, making them the best value on the board.

Long shot: Michigan (+4000)

This might seem crazy, but hear me out. Kyle Whittingham is one of the best coaches in the country and has long been known to get the most out of his roster. He led Utah to an 11-2 record this past season, with the team finishing ranked in the top 10 by SP+.

Whittingham takes over a Wolverines program that had enough talent to win nine games, despite everything going on behind the scenes. He inherits the former No. 1 recruit in QB Bryce Underwood, freshman phenom Andrew Marsh, and a defense that was top 15 in the country.

To bolster the roster, Whittingham has put together a top 15 transfer portal class, led by several All-Big 12 talents that followed him from Utah.

And that's not all, he has also put together a strong staff that includes Jason Beck as offensive coordinator and Jay Hill as defensive coordinator.

I expect Michigan to be competitive immediately under Whittingham.
