We've only just kicked off this year's national matchup between Miami and Indiana, but you can already bet on the 2026-27 CFP National Championship odds - which feature plenty of familiar faces among the early betting favorites to win it all next year.

Ohio State and Notre Dame opened as the co-favorites with +650 odds to win the national championship next year, which will be hosted at Allegiant Stadium in the first-ever national title game held in Las Vegas. Those two are priced ahead of Indiana, Texas, and Oregon to round out the top five with Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M close behind.

🏆 Ohio State, Notre Dame open as betting favorites for 2026-27

Two years ago, the Buckeyes and Fighting Irish faced off in the national championship. And oddsmakers are expecting one of those two to win it all next season.

Ohio State is a rather unsurprising pick to open as the betting favorite after winning the title two years ago and sitting at No. 1 for most of this season before losing to the two finalists (Indiana, Miami) in this year's title game. The Buckeyes should be back in the mix with their full arsenal of weapons - including QB Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith, who both rank among the top four favorites by the early Heisman odds.

Both players are priced behind Notre Dame QB CJ Carr, who is a key reason why the Fighting Irish are expected to compete for a national title next year. Notre Dame was likely good enough to do it this year, but two losses to Miami and Texas A&M by a combined four points kept the Irish from making the College Football Playoff.

And, of course, don't sleep on Indiana as a title contender next year. The Hoosiers looked like one of the best teams of all time this season, and while Fernando Mendoza is set to be the No. 1 pick in April's NFL draft, incoming TCU transfer Josh Hoover is plenty capable of steering the ship for two-time Coach of the Year winner Curt Cignetti.

🔮 Prediction to win 2026-27 CFP National Championship: Oregon (+900)

When I first checked the opening odds for next season, I fully expected Oregon to be the early betting favorite or at least in the top tier. So imagine my surprise to see four teams listed above the Ducks in the early oddsboard.

Yes, Dan Lanning and Co. were embarrassed on a national stage against Indiana, which had a knack for doing that to every team in its wake. But on paper, no team is better suited to make a run in 2026-27 with QB Dante Moore - an expected top-two pick in the NFL draft if he had declared - returning for one final season in Eugene.

He'll be flanked by an All-Star cast of returning starters on both sides of the ball, including future NFL prospects in receiver Evan Stewart and tight end Jamari Johnson and the entirety of Oregon's star-studded defensive front. The Big Ten will be loaded again next year, but I like the Ducks' chances of finally breaking through in 2026-27.
