With my BYU vs. Texas Tech same-game parlay for college football Championship Week, I’m targeting the explosive Red Raider offense to put together a show - while trusting the Texas Tech defense to keep the total Under 49.5 points.

BYU vs. Texas Tech SGP & parlay picks

Texas Tech -12.5 (-112) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Red Raiders are 11-1 ATS, producing the highest cover rate in FBS. Their average margin of victory (+31.9 PPG) ranks behind only Indiana, as Texas Tech has secured each of its 11 outright wins by 22 or more points.

Its only loss came while QB Behren Morton was injured. Texas Tech dominated BYU in the previous meeting, 29-7. There is simply a talent disparity in this matchup that I don’t expect BYU to overcome.

Under 49.5 (-112) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Parlaying a heavily-favored side with the game total going Under is a contrarian combo that produces an odds boost for our SGP. It's also how the last meeting between these teams played out, as the game total reached only 36 points.

While Texas Tech has averaged 41.0 PPG, only five of out its 12 games have gone Over due to the Red Raiders’ second-ranked scoring defense and top-ranked adjusted defensive efficiency in the nation holding teams to 11.6 PPG.

Caleb Douglas 61+ receiving yards (-129) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Standout Texas Tech receiver Caleb Douglas has secured 61 or more receiving yards seven times this season, including four of his past five games. The outlier was the matchup with BYU, where Douglas accrued only 12 yards on two receptions (one was a touchdown).

While the Red Raiders ran the ball well in that matchup to minimize their typically potent passing attack, I expect a more pass-heavy approach to the rematch. BYU allows 219.2 passing yards per game (58th in FBS).
