We're treated to an SEC - Big 12 clash tonight, and I break it down with my Auburn vs. Baylor prediction. Kickoff from McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas, is set for 8 p.m. ET (FOX).

Auburn is one of five SEC teams opening the season with a non-conference road game, and one of my college football Week 1 predictions focuses on whether the Tigers can get the job done as a 2.5-point betting favorite.

Sawyer Robertson returns under center for Baylor. Whether he can keep the offense going like he did at the end of last season is a major factor in my full-game analysis and my player prop selection as part of my college football picks.

⬆️ Over 57.5 (-108) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I agree with this line movement towards the Over, especially since it has cashed in seven of Baylor’s last eight season openers.

We should see another shootout in this nonconference matchup, specifically because of how hot Baylor’s offense was towards the end of last season. The Bears won six straight games after a 2-4 start and finished with 31-plus points nine times last year. The defense held the team back some, as Baylor also lost three games when scoring at least 28 points.

Baylor ranked in the top 10 last year in percentage of snaps that resulted in 20-yard gains (8.7%). And Auburn should do its part in scoring while returning receivers Malcolm Simmons and Cam Coleman, who combined for 1,049 yards and 11 touchdowns, face a poor Bears pass defense.

While the O/U is at 57.5 at the time of writing, FanDuel is one of the only ones charging less than the standard -110 juice to back the Over. Its -108 odds carry a 51.92% implied probability and would net $9.26 in profits on a winning $10 wager.

💰 Best Auburn vs. Baylor player prop bet

🔥 Sawyer Robertson Over 1.5 passing touchdowns (-154) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Auburn vs. Baylor Prediction, Betting Odds & Expert Picks: College Football Week 1
Pictured: Baylor Bears quarterback Sawyer Robertson (13) throws a pass as I offer my best Auburn vs. Baylor player prop. Photo by Ben Queen via Imagn Images.

Sawyer Robertson threw for 3,071 yards and 28 touchdowns last season and had multiple touchdown passes nine times over the final 10 games.

He is protected by four returning offensive line starters and gets back leading receivers Josh Cameron and Ashtyn Hawkins, who combined for 1,321 yards and 15 touchdowns last year.

The only thing keeping this from being a five-star play is the fact that Baylor also returns its top two running backs, who combined for 18 touchdowns and should warrant touches in the red zone.

The implied probability for Robertson to throw for multiple touchdowns is as high as 61.69% through Caesars’ -161 odds. But FanDuel offers a better return, where a $10 winning wager would return $6.49 in profits.

📈 Auburn vs. Baylor betting odds analysis

Auburn opened as a 2.5-point betting favorite, but the line has been bet down at some of our best sports betting sites. Most shops are now posting a -2, and rogue -1.5s are beginning to show up. Bettors are favoring Auburn, but the split is nearly even with just 51% of wagers coming on the visitors to cover.

The total opened at 56.5, but has ticked up to a near-unanimous 58.5 as of Friday morning. A small majority (54%) of the wagers are coming in on the Under.

❓Auburn vs. Baylor FAQs

Who is the favorite to win Auburn vs. Baylor?

Auburn is a 2.5-point betting favorite and has anywhere from -134 to -137 moneyline odds to beat Baylor.

How do college football spread odds work?

When betting on college football, the favorite needs to win by a certain number of points to cover the "point spread" - also known as the betting line. Conversely, the underdog needs to lose by fewer than the points displayed in the spread or win outright to cash. For example, a 3-point favorite would need to win by more than a field goal to reward bettors.

How do college football moneyline odds work?

When betting on college football, the underdog will have the "longer" odds and is typically priced at "plus-money" odds that indicate the profit on a $100 bet. For example, a team with +150 odds would turn a $100 bet into a $150 profit - or a $10 bet into a $15 profit - according to our odds converter.
