Quintrevion Wisner has had an up-and-down junior season in Texas’ backfield. The downs: He missed three games after the season opener at Ohio State, and barely did anything against Florida (11 rushing yards), Kentucky (37), Georgia (37), and Mississippi State (41).

The ups, however, were incredibly impressive: Wisner had 80 yards at Ohio State, 94 against Oklahoma and 75 against Vanderbilt. That trio of Top 25 squads ranks second, fourth and 24th nationally in stopping the run. Arkansas? It gives up 181.2 ground yards per game. Among 136 FBS teams, only 21 have allowed more ground yards than the Razorbacks.

Arkansas wide receiver O’Mega Blake recorded at least five receptions and 60 receiving yards in each of his first eight games. However, the senior ran into a brick wall the last two weeks against Mississippi State and LSU, catching a total of three passes for 35 yards. Yet I’m banking on Blake getting back on track Saturday for two reasons.

First, the Razorbacks will need to push the ball down the field to compete in this game. Second, they shouldn’t have much trouble doing so, as the Longhorns’ secondary is a weakness. Texas yields 234.7 passing yards per game, which ranks 93rd in FBS. By comparison, LSU and Mississippi State respectively rank 42nd and 48th in defending the pass.

Arch Manning hasn’t been a consistently productive passer in his first season as Texas’ starting quarterback. He has, however, been quite effective near the goal line. In fact, his six rushing touchdowns are more than the rest of the Longhorns’ offense (five), and they match wideout Ryan Wingo for the team lead.

Admittedly, five of Manning’s rushing touchdowns came in the first three games against terrible competition (San Jose State, UTEP and Sam Houston). And he’s only scored once against an SEC opponent. Still, Manning remains a solid bet to hit pay dirt against Arkansas, which has surrendered a whopping 19 rushing touchdowns in the last eight games.
