As Missouri gets ready to launch legal sports betting on Dec. 1, former NFL quarterback Trent Green has expressed his support for the upcoming sector.

Green, who played for the St. Louis Rams during their 1999 Super Bowl season, has been participating in events related to Missouri sports betting after partnering with Caesars Sportsbook to promote the launch of both its in-person and online sportsbooks. He will travel to Harrah’s Kansas City, Horseshoe St. Louis, and Isle of Capri Booneville to support the launch.

Speaking in an interview with Fox News Digital earlier this week, he explained why he was so supportive of the arrival of sports betting. “Sports betting is finally coming to the state of Missouri. It’s a natural tie in with me. I grew up in St. Louis. I played for the Rams a couple of different times, played for the Chiefs for six years. So, I’ve been all over the state most of my life. And the fact that sports betting is finally here, it seemed like a natural fit for us,” he said.

He also said that he would be placing a bet on his old college team with the Missouri sports betting app, the Indiana Hoosiers, which is currently ranked second in the country behind Ohio State.

Blues name DraftKings as an official betting partner

Meanwhile, other sports have been preparing for the launch of sports betting, including ice hockey. The St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League have announced that they have signed a deal with betting operator DraftKings to be their Official Sports Betting and Daily Fantasy Sports Operator.

The arrangement comes as teams and regulators prepare for an upsurge in interest from fans across the state. The details of the deal also underline current sensitivities around the impact of gambling. According to DraftKings, a commitment to responsible gaming initiatives is central to the partnership.

The company will display in-arena messaging before games, encouraging fans to review their betting activity, set betting limits, and utilize available budgeting tools. Blues officials have also stated that these measures will help promote safer gambling habits as access to betting expands.

The partnership also includes marketing rights that will allow DraftKings to use team trademarks and integrate its presence into broadcasts and arena signage. It will also certainly result in the incorporation of Missouri sportsbook promos.

DraftKings, which received a mobile sports betting license earlier this year, is expected to operate statewide once Missouri’s framework is fully implemented. With the state poised to become the 29th in the U.S. to permit regulated online sports betting, both state regulators and local sports organizations say their focus remains on striking a balance between fan engagement and responsible oversight.
