Jamie Foxx to be Face of BetMGM's "The King of Sportsbooks" Campaign

A lot has been made lately about the mainstreaming of the US legal sports betting industry. The latest example comes from BetMGM, the GVC Holdings and MGM Resorts International joint venture who have brought on Academy and GRAMMY Award winner Jamie Foxx to be the high-profile star of their new ad campaign.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Foxx will indeed become the face of the legal sports betting giant in ‘The King of Sportsbooks’ campaign that will begin airing on “a variety of traditional and social media ads”. The A-list veteran of comedy, film, and music brings a recognizable face to arguably the biggest name in the US legal sports betting space.

Innovation continues to become a crucial part of what makes a sportsbook successful during this time of growing competition within the legal gambling space. Matt Prevost, chief marketing officer of BetMGM, called the new ad campaign “the next step in the evolution of the BetMGM brand,” and reaffirmed the BetMGM brand as one that “exists at the intersection of sports and entertainment, and Jamie fits this positioning perfectly.”

The Foxx Factor

Jamie Foxx is scheduled to star in a number of advertisements for the BetMGM brand for both traditional media outlets and social media. It all begins with "The King of Sportsbooks" campaign that is being produced in collaboration with creative agency 72andSunny New York. BetMGM is hoping to create a ‘sitting on the edge of your seat’ experience with Foxx driving that narrative.

"Jamie is an exceptional talent and we're proud to have him partner with us on our new campaign for BetMGM," said BetMGM's Matt Prevost.

Having the recent winner of "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture" at the NAACP Image Awards and the owner of numerous prestigious acting awards will provide a boost to what has already been described as a groundbreaking campaign.

"… Jamie brings a unique ability to tell our story in an incredibly creative and entertaining way… we couldn't be more excited to welcome him to the BetMGM family," added Prevost.

What to Look Forward To

It appears that BetMGM is going all-in on their first Jamie Foxx campaign, which aims to highlight the excitement and fun associated with sports betting. In the coming weeks, the airwaves will be flooded with Foxx levitating above the water at the unparalleled Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas.

"The King of Sportsbooks" campaign plans to build on their first offering soon in order to further one of the most iconic betting brands in America. Get used to seeing a lot of Foxx in his role as the face of BetMGM.

BetMGM Going Forward

BetMGM has signaled that they are not going to be shy in their attempts to become the dominant player in the legal sports betting industry in the United States. As of now, the BetMGM sportsbook is available on desktop and for download on both iOS and Android in seven states. BetMGM hopes to be live in 11 states by the end of 2020 and has an eye on more expansion as the legal sports betting industry swells into 2021.
