Jon Peters, Hollywood Producer and former head of Sony Pictures, has placed a $5 million wager on Jake Paul to defeat Anthony Joshua in their upcoming Netflix-broadcast fight, drawing strong attention with the size and circumstances of the bet.

Peters also encouraged his children to place separate wagers on the same outcome. The combined potential payout is estimated at roughly $50 million, according to comments he made in media interviews. Betting on the outcome is just one option discussed in our Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua betting odds.

Peters described the wager as the first time he had ever bet on another athlete, citing his belief in Paul's mindset and career trajectory. He said he viewed Paul as a relentless competitor who had steadily built himself into a viable draw in boxing, contrasting that with Joshua's status as an established former heavyweight champion.

The director pointed to Paul’s age advantage over Joshua and suggested that motivation and hunger could play a decisive role in the contest. He also expressed confidence that Paul could end the fight early, based on his own long-standing interest in combat sports.

Beyond the betting angle, Peters linked the outcome of the fight to potential film plans, saying he had long-held options on a remake of Bullitt and viewed Paul as a marketable modern star with crossover appeal.

He indicated that a victory over Joshua could further elevate Paul's profile and open the door to additional high-profile bouts, including a possible fight in the UK against another heavyweight opponent.

The scale of the wagers has raised eyebrows within the betting community, particularly against a backdrop of recent controversies in the sports betting industry.

The combination of celebrity involvement, large sums wagered at the best sports betting sites, and an unusual scenario has heightened scrutiny ahead of a fight in which Paul will face an opponent with a significantly stronger professional record and proven knockout power, despite no allegations having been substantiated.

Celebrity intrigue

As attention shifts to the spectacle surrounding fight night itself, the build-up to the fight continues to gain momentum alongside the unusual betting stories. Fans and bettors have turned their attention to celebrity involvement, especially during the fighters' ring walks.

Social media star KSI has become a popular choice as speculation about Joshua's potential entourage has grown. He's priced at +200 to appear alongside the former heavyweight champion. American rapper Kodak Black is also mentioned as a potential member of Joshua's group, with odds of +700.

On the other end, Rapper 50 Cent is listed at +700 to participate in Paul's ring walk, indicating his recent attendance at significant boxing events and his public association with well-known fighters.

The primary betting lines still favor Joshua as a firm favorite, despite the interest in these novelty markets. He's priced at -900 to take down Paul. Paul is listed as a +600 outsider, with many viewing the matchup as the most demanding test of his boxing career to date.

A draw is priced at +2200.
