It hasn’t even been a week since Super Bowl LVI, and FanDuel Sportsbook is looking to keep cashing in on NFL bettors by releasing first overall pick and first quarterback selected odds on Friday, Feb. 18.

After the Super Bowl drew record numbers of wagers and handle, it’s a no-brainer to open NFL markets as quickly as possible. FanDuel also has futures available for Super Bowl LVII and the AFC and NFC Conference Winners.

2022 NFL Draft - Number 1 Overall Pick

There’s usually a straight-ahead path for the team in most draft years with the No. 1 selection. Jacksonville went that route in the 2021 NFL Draft with consensus top quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

If the team with the first pick doesn’t have a franchise quarterback, that’s usually the way the cookie crumbles.

After all, a signal-caller has gone first overall in 10 of the past 13 NFL Drafts.

The Jaguars already have Lawrence, though, so targeting an edge rusher or offensive tackle is probably the current plan of the front office. Either way, Jacksonville will be adding another franchise-changing talent on board, and it will likely be either Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson or Alabama offensive tackle Evan Neal.

Jacksonville selecting Neal to protect Lawrence makes perfect sense, and Michigan native Hutchinson falling to the Lions has an excellent narrative. Hutchinson’s exactly what Detroit head coach Dan Campbell’s looking for, too.

Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux shouldn’t be considered out of the conversation, either. His ceiling is probably higher than Hutchinson’s, but Thibodeaux is perhaps a little less polished. Maybe, Thibodeaux is the answer to bringing back #Sacksonville

Interestingly, Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett and Liberty quarterback Malik Willis had the same odds to be selected first overall. Still, Pickett is the favorite to be the first signal-caller selected.

However, it's a moot point unless the Jaguars trade the pick.

Pickett is generally viewed as the more polished and NFL-ready quarterback, whereas dual-threat Willis oozes talent and personality but is probably still a work in progress.

Considering he has the longer odds, planting a flag on Willis could pay off. He's a superstar in the making.

North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell and Mississippi quarterback Matt Corrall are long shots, but both could be first-round picks. You won't find them listed as the first QB's selected in many Mock Drafts, though.
