DraftKings has announced the launch of its new product, DK Replay, with an initial launch in Oregon after receiving regulatory approval from the Oregon Lottery. The expanded sports betting offering means customers can bet on archived MLB events during the off-season.
According to DraftKings, eligible users in the Oregon sports betting market can bet on anonymized matchups between pitchers and batters based on past MLB seasons. Each of these players has a corresponding bronze, silver, and gold rating based on their past performance, including batting averages, slugging percentages, earned run averages, and strikeouts per nine innings pitched.
The ratings will also give users insight into each match-up without revealing the players.
In addition, customers can place bets within a pitch clock window on the outcome of the next pitch, choosing between ball, strike, or ball in play. After the wager is submitted, the actual result is revealed immediately and graded. This process continues pitch for pitch until the plate appearance is over or until the user does not enter another bet before time runs out.
Once this process is over, all the details of the initial game are revealed. Users can then move to another anonymized plate appearance and repeat the process. The feature operates independently of the live MLB calendar, enabling year-round betting.
“DK Replay offers a new experience for our customers, allowing them to tap into the excitement of pitch-by-pitch betting in a unique historical environment,” said Corey Gottlieb, Chief Product Officer at DraftKings. “With DK Replay, we’re able to offer an experience that will allow customers to enjoy their favorite sports no matter the time of year.”
DraftKings and FanDuel launch in Arkansas
The new betting product arrives as DraftKings continues to expand its betting reach in the US. The operator and FanDuel launched in Arkansas this month after securing approval from the Arkansas Racing Commission on Feb. 26, expanding Arkansas sports betting through new mobile platforms tied to existing casinos.
Two of the best sports betting sites applied for licenses earlier in February, seeking to partner with in-state operators. FanDuel is serving as the vendor for Oaklawn Casino's mobile sportsbook app, while DraftKings is partnered with Southland Casino in West Memphis under a similar arrangement. In both cases, the sportsbook operators receive a share of the revenue generated through their platforms.
The approval process also faced opposition from Saracen Casino, which expressed concerns about the partnership with companies outside the state. The debate also centered on compliance with Arkansas regulations, which require that at least 51% of revenue generated remain with the in-state casino partner.
State officials confirmed that the Department of Finance and Administration placed auditors in casinos to ensure compliance with the 51% rule. The department did not take an official position on the partnerships but indicated that oversight measures are in place as Arkansas sports betting continues to expand.
