Colorado Casinos Down 14.9% Month-over-Month in January

Colorado announced revenue for its casinos, which produced a total assorted gross profit of over $80.8 million in January 2025.

Colorado is home to many of our best sports betting sites, but as it doesn't have a legal real-money online casino market, brick-and-mortar operations rule the roost.

The Colorado Department of Revenue has announced revenue for its land-based casinos, which produced over $80.8 million in total assorted gross profit (AGP) and $14.2 million in gaming taxes. That figure represents a 14.9% decrease month-over-month from December.

Black Hawk Casino yielded the highest amount in January, generating $62.4 million in AGP. It was followed by Central City Casino and Cripple Creek Casino, which yielded $5.6 and $12.7 million, respectively.

All three casinos have reported a decrease in AGP compared to December, with Cripple Creek reporting the most significant percentage difference with an 18.98% month-over-month decline in revenue.

Breakdown of slots and table games

The majority of the reported revenue comes from slot games, with Black Hawk reporting $49 million, Cripple Creek reporting $11.9 million, and Central City reporting $5.4 million. 

Compared to December’s reported slot revenue, the reported decrease in revenue mirrors that of the decline in AGP: Black Hawk has reported a reduction of 17.16%, Central City a decrease of 11.45%, and Cripple Creek a drop of 18.91%.

Revenue from table games has remained comparatively steady for Black Hawk and Central City, which have reported a percentage difference of only -1.77% and -10.75%, respectively, between January’s revenue and December’s revenue. 

Cripple Creek also reported a percentage decrease in table games revenue of 20.4%, dropping from $0.9 million in December to $0.7 million in January.

Record-breaking Super Bowl

Despite casino revenue being down, bettors in the Centennial State appear to have had a record-breaking Super Bowl LIX, with $48 million wagered on the game. 

According to the Colorado Division of Gaming, the total handle for the game was $48,273,381, with 97% of that total bet online. There is a rising trend of people engaging in Super Bowl wagering. This year, the total handle was up 4% from 2024, when it was $46.4 million.
