As the build-up continues to Friday’s boxing clash between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua, attention has focused on celebrity involvement and betting speculation.

Speculation over ring walks has been a focal point over recent days, with social media star KSI emerging as a strong candidate to accompany Anthony Joshua to the ring, according to sportsbook William Hill, which reports odds of 2/1 for his appearance. American rapper Kodak Black is also linked with a possible appearance next to the former heavyweight champion, with odds of 7/1.

On the opposite side, rumours suggest Jake Paul could be joined by celebrities from the music world, and rapper 50 Cent is among the most heavily tipped. Odds for his appearance are currently 7/1 on William Hill.

Ringside attendance has also generated plenty of speculation, and there has been discussion about which public figures may be in attendance. Music star Pitbull is among those expected to be present; his odds at the best sports betting sites currently stand at 2/1, along with Donald Trump, at 5/1.

Anthony Joshua’s record as the former unified heavyweight champion means he goes into the bout as the clear favourite with bookmakers. Jake Paul comes to the fight as a big outsider in the toughest test of his boxing career, but there has also been speculation about future matchups for Jake Paul, and even the prospect of a rematch if the outsider were to win.

It's sure to be a busy night for the best sports betting apps.

Jake Paul backed in the toughest test of his career

Away from the speculation, pundits appear to agree that this is Jake Paul’s most difficult boxing assignment since he turned professional in 2020.

The 28-year-old has established his record mostly against former mixed martial artists, with wins over Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, Nate Diaz, and Anderson Silva, and his only defeat came in a split decision against Tommy Fury in 2023.

Paul has fought as a heavyweight once before, most notably beating Mike Tyson in November 2024, but this will be a significant step up in class. Although Anthony Joshua is tipped by most to win the eight-round bout on December 19th, there have been plenty of bettors banking on Paul to pull off an upset. Betting data shows a surge in support for the American, with his share of new bets increasing, despite Joshua remaining the heavy favourite.

Some high-profile figures have also publicly backed Paul. Former opponent Diaz revealed that he has had a big wager on the YouTuber-turned-boxer, while it has been reported that film producer Jon Peters has placed a $5 million bet on Paul to win.

That level of support has added another narrative to the story of the fight. While experts predict a simple win for Joshua, Paul’s supporters point to his willingness to take risks and his commitment, which have enabled him to exceed expectations so far.
