Haase draws Melzer. It looks to me like Melzer may have shot his wad during the indoor swing. Since his unexpected Memphis title, he's 0-2 with losses to Smyczek and Bellucci on outdoor hard courts. Haase got a solid win over Matosevic to start here. He might need some improvement to win against Melzer, but the Austrian has a poor track record in Miami with losses in his first match of the tournament in five of his last seven trips. He's also just 4-11 in his last 15 on this surface.

I find it hilarious that Fish is only -330 against a sub-100 ranked player when any other top 10 player would be -1000 or more. May it have something to do with the fact that the 348th rank player beat him? He's also lost at least two other times this year to "lesser" competition.

I forgot to mention this the other day ... anyone else notice that qualifiers won four of five in the first round? Bubka, Garcia-Lopez, Phau and Dancevic. I think at least two of them could win again today seeing as all four are facing spazzoids: Monfils, Troicki, Verdasco and Fish.

I don't win all my tennis plays, but it seems like the 3 of us really know our shit. I have been training for a major zone in Corpus that I am playing this weekend. Got thru yesterday's match & lost in Quarters today! Kid was solid, no weakness I could exploit. I played really well. I just got to hotel, so I am going to look at some plays. If I like anything, I'll post it in a bit. I have doubles at 6, so I need to sleep a bit. We had an epic doubles last night we won, 7-5, 3-6, 7-6

Hope u have been doing well brotha. And if u come to Houston for RO tment, let me know. Would love to hook up for an afternoon, like I said.

Verdasco rolled today, but we'll see how his consistency is this week. So often he looks great and then goes into shithouse mode the next match.

See Monfils got a break on Bubka, so Bubka looks like he's going to go down 6-4, 6-4 probably.

That means baskets ought to be here in about ten minutes or less.

Appreciate the words. I don't pretend to be a great tennis capper, but I try to dig around and do some research and provide useful information. I post my picks and they are what they are, win or lose. That's what I thought SBR was for, especially in the specialized sections like tennis and soccer where there is far less bullshit taking place with guys just out to try and get a pat on the back for making a "lock" thread, etc.

They"ve been cut for a little while now haha! He didnt get to showcase the new hair in Indian Wells after being sick. I was shocked yesterday seeing him practice, barely recognized him.

I'm liking Simon over Melzer too, but historically all 4 matches have been tight affairs. I was stat tracking all of the Haase/Melzer match, and JM was pretty strong with his service games, but as usual I think Simon's pusher-extraordinaire game will frustrate him.
