#2383For tonight ...
ATP Memphis: Kubot -120
Told you yesterday about Kubot's blog regarding his racket change and how he believes what he is testing out has added pop to his serve. It has shown over this tournament and the last. I am more impressed with who Kubot has played and lost to or beaten than I am with what Becker has done. Becker dropped off in the 2nd set against Malisse, but he worked through it as Malisse really struggled. Becker's track record still shows some inconsistencies as tournaments move on. 2nd serves will likely be the difference here. Both are only getting in slightly more than 50% of their 1st serves. Whomever can control the 2nd serve I think wins this. I'm taking my shot with Kubot.Comment -

#2384Absolutely. His serve is getting returned pretty regular by Melzer. His best shot as usual is going to be to try and survive to a tie break and then work some magic as he often does in those breakers. Melzer has given him some looks at break opps, but no dice so far as far as converting.Comment -

#2386Isner just saved double match point from 15-40 on his serve. 5-5 in the 2nd. Get the feeling if he could get this 2nd set, it would be a great adrenaline boost for him. Don't know if that's gonna happen though.Comment -

#2392Raonic has played in a tiebreaker 6 out of 7 matches now. He just cost me the under 21.5 by getting broken for first time all match while serving for game. Real crappy way to lose a bet. I wish he didn't give games away on return just to rely on his serve at end of matches.Comment -

#2393Took Kubot spread big after almost taking Becker ML, he's looking out of sorts. Fought off a few break points this set and hasn't pressured Becker's serve at all. Now he just got broken and looks broken himself. Not feeling good about my -2. Been an incredibly rough day (was big on Raonic u21.5 and Isner) for me. Hope he turns it around for both of us. Good luck!
Kubot broken first game of 2nd set. I'm chalking this up as a loss and lesson on chasing. Better luck tomorrow too, EP.Last edited by crblahblah; 02-24-12, 10:56 PM.Comment -

#2400Futures Plays Marseille Tsonga +275 Llodra +2500 Tipsarevic +900 Memphis Isner +500 Raonic +250 I do agree on Isner in Memphis. If he shows up focused, he should do well here. Even though Raonic is on a short turnaround, his draw is set up for him to cruise again so long as he can bounce back quickly from the travel. Marseilles, I think Llodra and Tipsarevic are worth the looks at longer odds. Tipsarevic especially to me is nice at this price as he has little excuse not to be in the semifinals and may have a shot at getting to the final too.Comment -

#2403Going with my gut here. Firmly believe one of the dogs wins and that would yield a profit if they go 1-1.
ATP Buenos Aires
Wawrinka +185
Nalbandian +215
Wawrinka actually has a good track record against Almagro on clay, pulling off a stunning Davis Cup win over him in 2010 in Spain. Almagro has been the King of Clay in South America the last two years. Almagro made three straight finals during this swing last year and won two of those tournaments, so fatigue isn't necessarily going to be a factor here. Wawrinka has seemingly put the Davis Cup choke job against Fish behind him and he's playing with no pressure here. That usually makes for a dangerous opponent. Nalbandian has a tough task against Ferrer, but the home crowd is going to be hyped. Nalbandian might have been the most impressive player in Buenos Aires this week with how he dismantled Monaco & Berlocq - two in-form clay courters. Ferrer has had a cakewalk to this point, so seeing how he responds if Nalbandian pushes him will be fun to see.Comment -

#2404I'm opposite on both. You may be right though, one of them has a chance to pull the upset. I just decided to stick with the ole reliable spanish clay courters. Ferrer and Almagro are usually money on this surface.Last edited by SFGiants93; 02-25-12, 03:33 PM.Comment -

#2415Nah, played the over @+110 for sh*ts & giggles, he's playing a local 18 year old with 2 career matches under his belt, just gambled on the fact that he didn't really feel like pushing too hard because he knew he would win regardless. Sure enough the over is cashed in the first set.Comment
