Anyone have any good strategy on how to bet this seemingly crazy heat? For example, players that are known for not handling the heat, or someone that really gassed themselves last their last match?

#3I won't be surprised if a player or 2 ends up comatose. 1 day of brutal heat you can do it. The 2nd or 3rd match in the brutal heat???
Its probably 25 to 30 degrees hotter on the court than the air temp.Comment -

Generally expect lower ranked or otherwise less enduring or fit players to take a hit past two or even one set. Also keep close in mind that north-euro-rich-white boys can't handle the African sun too well.
Almost let it slip... damn!

#12It was 37 at 2am this morning. That's just penetrating twisted. At least I've got the week off work so the lack of sleep is not a big issue. Poor bastards playing tennis in it.Comment -

#18Yeah it gets hotter in the summer but this is the first time I remember these temperatures lasting this long during the Aussie Open. Usually it's a day or two during the fortnight and even then players are complaining. This time it's a minimum of 5 days.Comment -

#24You mean the surface is 25-30 degrees hotter? Or that it's hotter in the stadium?[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

#28There have been a bunch of withdrawals/retirements and most were heat-related.
I also read Jankovic burned her rear sitting on an uncovered seat.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

seems like the warnings are more directed at mens also,
matosevic got a violation yesterday for not bringing his water bottle with him and delaying the point. correct he should of brought it with him as he had a previous warning but then again wozniackis bottle almost melted.Comment -

#31I'm not sure about the court temp as I haven't been watching yet today but just from being there before, it's a lot hotter in the stadium than what the official temperature is and then the announced court temp is always higher than that. What I don't get is that even with the fainting aside because someone could argue conditioning and preparation are factors in that, if a player's shoes and water bottles are melting on the court how are people expected to play on that? Especially the men.Comment -

#32I just want to know how the fukk it goes from 70 to 108 in one day?! I mean the reverse is easy to explain with a cold front ... you down underers do cold fronts backwards too and have hot fronts?Comment -

#33Yeah there basically is hot fronts. Then again, Melbourne weather is just crazy in general. The temperature fluctuates here unlike anything I've ever experienced before. One day you can be cooking on the beach and then by midnight you have the heat on at home. It's been a sauna all summer in the rest of Australia and we've avoided it until now. Just sucks that we happen to finally get it right when the Aussie Open comes to town.Comment -
