#2462Futures wise for WTA Wimbledon. If Kvitova wins 1st, no hedge on Bouchard as there would be a guaranteed future alive in the final. Best case, both win and it's $ time in the Final.Comment -

#2469Yes, you win either way, EP, but give us your breakdown of the match. Tavari(?) who used to play women's tennis and post on this forum, once said Kvitova is the greatest fade out there (in big matches). I tend to agree. Bouchard has had the tougher road and if Kvitova had that much trouble with an over-the-hill Venus, I don't think she can handle Bouchard, who has as much power as Kvitova, moves better, and already, at a young age, is tougher mentally.Comment -

#2471Have you actually watched Kvitova-Venus and the first set of her match today ? I have not seen that level from Bouchard (yet). Kvitova also has her serve to fall back on when the going gets tough. Bouchard does have an edge in movement, but Kvitova is more powerful and she is one determined f.cker. I am gonna be hedging my Kvitova futures, but I will leave a little more on the Kvitova side. Genie has been great and I think this one does go over (or at least the first set should), but the odds are fair and Petra should be the fav.Originally posted by poetYes, you win either way, EP, but give us your breakdown of the match. #2472I did not see the match, Frug, but look at the quality of opponents the two have faced. Even today, Kvitova beats Saf 7-6 (in the first) and goes on to roll while Bouchard beats Halep 7-6 and goes on to roll. All things being equal (and I think they are here, with slight serve edge to Kvitova,) movement is huge on grass. Very few big servers (male or female) win this thing if they don't have great movement. Goran (on the men's side) and Kvitova (on the women's) are the only two that come to mind right now. And Kvitova beat Sharapova in that final (who is not as good a mover as Bouchard).Comment -

#2473Yes, EP, I remember Lisicki's meltdown last year. Lost a bunch cause she could not hold it together. But I also made a bunch riding her to the finals. I think Bouchard is made of sterner stuff but I won't go big on her. She just has the aura of someone who was born to be a star (on the tennis court).Originally posted by EaglesPhan36Kvitova. #2474I can turn this around around and say that Bouchard's path was not impressive: Cornet and Kerber in a letdown spot, coming off tough wins as overwhelming dogs, and injured Halep (and Cornet should've taken at least a set off Bouchard). One stat that I really like about Kvitova is that she wins >60% of points on her 2nd serve, for Bouchard that number is about 50%. Ultimately, I think whoever holds it together better should win. I am rooting for a great match, but Kvitova is defo the fav.
Edit: I do like the over but I would not go big on it since the majority of women's GS finals go way under, especially involving a newcomer.Comment -

#2476Perhaps. This surface though is good to Kvitovs. If Kvitova had never won before, I could see going on Bouchard but I think it makes a big difference although with the chicks - they all have mental frailty in their DNA. That's why I love being in my spot and not deciphering a play insteadOriginally posted by poetYes, EP, I remember Lisicki's meltdown last year. Lost a bunch cause she could not hold it together. #2483Some teams catch lightning in a bottle, it happens. Bolt-Whittington did it in the Australian. If you realistically were betting on "big hitters" in doubles regardless of matchup, you'd lose more than you win during the season. They didn't really hit them off the court per say, but they cashed in better on break points & that's usually the end game.Comment -
