If Flipkens manages to win, wow - could not be a better set up for Fatty Boom Bah to get to the Final .. if she can put Sloane away first. Either way, proper hedge IMO would be the get the price on the opponent "to win" Wimbledon so you have a Finalist regardless of outcome.

Really disappointed with the doubles play today. Looks like Paes-Stepanek may be hitting their stride again. Futures will probably save my tournament. Kind of the opposite if I recall of the French Open.

Should be an easy/glorious semifinal hedge on Flipkens. I won't hedge all that much. First timers in GS semis rarely pull it off, but I'll find Flipkens on odds to win Wimbledon and use that. Probably root for Radwanksa on the other side because Lisicki's price is going to be stupid if she makes the final.

I liked your post and it was 100% true. When I had my thread and people came in congratulating me on bets after the first set or even now when the commentator says something like "her serving has been immaculate" or "surely this one is over now" I start to get itchy. Your brain doesn't remember the times people have said it and things have turned out ok. It naturally focuses on all the times it didn't. It ain't ever over in tennis until the chair ump calls match... especially in the WTA.

Hey EP, I could really use some of your advice. I have Radwanska, Bartoli, and Flipkens in futures. My biggest fear is that Lisicki will win it all given my long-term luck (I've never hit a tennis future although I've come very close). Do you think it's best that I go all in on Lisicki future now for +126, or pray that she loses to Radwanska and hedge everything I have on the underdog in the final?

I would let it ride. Sure the chance might be good that Lisicki gets in there, but you've got 3/4 covered ... and nothing is certain about Lisicki making the Final Remember Ag-Rad has the experience of making a Slam Final. Lisicki does not. This is where nerves are very, very large.

I'm not EP but I'd give the same advice he did. You have 3 of the remaining 4. Lisicki is a known headcase at times... you don't want to go all in on a future on her. Rad can handle big servers, Bartoli is obviously blessed by the gods and Flipper is solid. Wait until the final is decided at least. If she's in it you'll have pissed money away hedging and still have one player in it. If she's not in it, you have both. You're in a beautiful spot right now.

I agree with both you and Shari, and I think Radwanska has a GREAT shot at winning. However, the thing is that I have Aga for $4650, Flipkins for $1150, and Bartoli for $1050. If I wait out in hopes of Aga winning, I will certainly hedge everything on the underdog (would assume Bartoli or Flipkins would be dogs). If I wait out Lisicki/Radwanska and Lisicki wins, then good chance I could walk away with $0, but if I hedge everything on Lisicki future now, it would be Lisicki winning for $845 as the WORST case scenario. Even with 3/4, there's a good chance I end up with $0.

You said all in in your first post so it wasn't much of an indication of numbers involved and I'd never recommend that for anyone. Knowing the dollar figures involved on each player now, hedge on Lisicki and be done with it. No stress for you regardless. It's what I call a greenout - you win money no matter what happens. Enviable spot you're in!
