Nice, Best sporting event I have ever been too and that includes Final Fours, NFL playoff games, NBA playoff games ... great atmosphere and NY really has the best crowds outside of Australia for Slams.

Gasquet usually has trouble with big servers and I wasn't overly impressed by what I saw from Gasquet against Tursunov. Basically. if Raonic's serve holds to the level it has been at the last two rounds - Gasquet is going to have to be near perfect on his serve to keep pace. Now, Raonic's return game will probably allow him some easy holds - but Gasquet has been broken three times in each of the last two matches and has left too many break opps out there. If Raonic can convert half of what he sees (hopefully six or better), he should be in position to win.

EP in case you wonder why hewitt won the 2nd set, I came watching when youzhny went to serve @ 2*-1. Started rooting for Hewitt and that's what happened. Or maybe also the umpire overrule.

Hewitt had no business losing that match. He had the opportunity to put the crazy Russian 3 or 4 times. We played it right, but like Courier said, he played like a daffodil when it was time to close out. He had a killer instinct, but that's gone now. I think the 3 children made him soft. I'm angry...

He still has a killer instinct, but I honestly think he plays more like a killer when he is the big underdog in a match - like against Del Potro. These 50-50 types, especially where the crowd was backing him like a favorite ... I think there was maybe some pressure he didn't expect. Guy is 32 and well past his prime, what do you really expect at the end of the day? I expected this sort of grinder and it did not disappoint. I'm a big Youzhny fan too, so that eases the loss of coinage for me.

I'd defintely take my chances betting on someone every time if you tell me they are going to have a chance to close in two of the last three sets. Choke happens. That's tennis.

You don't think the crowd has any effect on a match? You loco pollo. It's how the athlete handles it, but there can certainly be an effect on pressure situations. Guys playing at home don't want to disappoint the fans = sometimes trying too hard instead of playing their usual game.

My whole point here was that I think Hewitt doesn't let outside influences effect him as much when no one expects him to win - like the Delpo match. Here, he was in position to win in a tight match. Expected to win probably by many despite not being the "booking" favorite and the crowd was very vocally for him and not Youzhny.

Obviously they don't serve the ball or hit a backhand, but crowds raise and lower emotional levels which have a direct outcome on matches/events sucka.

As I said, I love you long time Li Na style and agree perfectly with everything else, but the crowd clearly helped LL today

I don't see it. Even without the long match on his legs last round, Gasquet has always had trouble against Ferrer. He'd have a better shot if it was another big dikk server who would let him play short points. Ferrer is gonna work those Frog legs over. Don't doubt he can keep it close because Ferrer's serve will allow for that some like it always does, but Ferrer's got that uncanny break-back ability where he can take it right back after he yacks one up.
